Bonfire of the Vanities for sure. If this was just another blue collar worker accused of the same crime you can bet that the book and then some would be thrown at him.

Remember what goes around comes around. Karma is a true bitch when it hits home. Have a nice life.

I find it odd that there are very few people stories in the local vail papers, seems that this story is getting more coverage on the national stage.

I'm in Los Angeles, can someone in vail corroborate this?

This is an incredible story that Mark Hurlbert has decided not to pursue felony charges for a hit and run on a Dr.. What a terrible situation! You know how it goes. When you like something you tell a few of your friends. When you are mad about something you tell EVERYBODY YOU KNOW! I'm in the latter camp and plan to mention Mark Hurlbert and the Vail-Eagel district attorney to everyone that is a skier, bicyclist, and particularly those who go to Vail (Of which I know dozens).

Hang on, gentle readers:

This story has become simply distorted.

The accident did not happen in Vail;
The prosecutor (who sucx) isn't based in Vail!

The accident happened 15 miles west (near Arrowhead, west of Beaver Creek and Avon);

The prosecutor is associated with Eagle County Court.

The only 'connection' to Vail is that the articles first appeared in the Vail Daily newspaper!

Remember, I am but one resident-cyclist of THOUSANDS here, and we constitute the front line of OUTRAGE against the prosecutor whose salary is paid from OUR tax dollars, and we need your help!

Our lives are threatened every time some shithead rich banker-boy tries to gin up a defense (sleep apnea? Then he SHOULD NOT be driving ever again! He's a menace to society...).

Send your letters to Eagle County Judges...

But if you want to boycott Vail it's really a disservice to we cyclists, who would rather have your support??

Peace all, thanks for reading

If you'd read a similar article 29 years ago, that would have been me: struck in East Vail by a rental car, driven by that company's employee, who SLAMMED my rear wheel, drunk, and the corporation walked scot-free (nearly).
