Base salary typically does not provide the real compensation figures for an employee. It would be more realistic to look at total compensation, which would include all benefits such as 401K and any matching contribution, medical/other insurances and any bonus plan(s).

I'll take 147k and manage the hell out of the county.
That is a very serious salary.

In a county where most people cannot find jobs, where the local governent for such a rural place is so large.
We have many problems here....perhaps if the county government was not so large for no reason, we would not need to pay a manager so much.
Agreed to if that is the pay, the cost to the citizens could be as large as $200k (way too high).
Keep in mind the hidden costs. For example, Park county charges about $1000 for a building permit...but that permit costs you over $10,000 in permit fees, porta potti rental (even if you have one or a great neighbor), time waiting for inpections, loss of use of tools such as your ladders for their roof inpections (because they, for some reason, have never bought a ladder), revision fees and reinpection fees.
We likely pay the inspector $30-50,000, but he costs park county citizens 3x that in unneeded porta pottys alone.
