I was told by a reliable source that the vote that kept Will C. Wood's outstanding girls basketball player, Jamie Capoot from recieving
"player of the year" honors was cast by the Vaca High Girls varsity coach. I was told that she cast her vote for the Napa player and only one vote separated the two for this award. If true, and I believe it is true, someone needs to be let go as coach. Just because Wood has beaten the Vaca High girls team (and this coach) for the past four years, is not reason to vote against Jamie.

Are there people that actually care about girls basketball? I don't know any.

Are you going to go after the other coaches that didn't vote for Jamie too?

This is Vacaville. I would hope that if the shoe was on the other foot, meaning VHS had a player that was deserving of reciept of this award, that the Wood coach would support her with a vote. Remember, this isn't a case of giving something to someone that wasn't deserving, but rather an award to a player that was in the top two of the best players in the league.

Capoot wasn't even the best player on the team. Anderson was.

You don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. What on earth have you been smoking. Anderson is a good player, a decent scorer, but has problems creating her own shot. But Jamie does everything above average - well above average. She could average 20+ points a game if that is what coach Rodriguez wanted her to do, but he needs to to run the offense, distribute the ball to others (Anderson benefitted much from getting the ball from Jamie), rebound and play tenacious defense. Anderson is a better player because she plays with Jamie, but Jamie isn't a better player because of Anderson. If Anderson is better, then why has Jamie received interest from more than 25 colleges (so far), with 3-4 likely to offer her a full ride? Anderson hasn't received even a snif from anyone other than Solano. I've attended more than 40 Wood girls games over the past 2 years. Jamie Capoot is the best basketball player to ever come out of Wood, and I've been watching girls basketball for over 15 years. So, there you go. You can debate this all you want, but let's be somewhat real about it.

Wood football 2006. WCW Head coach voted for his own player that led them to an 0-5 record in league rather than vote for a VHS kid.(Info from a reliable source)

I am glad to see the VHS parents/coaches didn't start a petition to fire Coach Boles. He obviously voted for who he felt was the best player in the league. I am assuming Coach Painter-Kamman did the same thing.

I'd like to thank Jamie's mom for her input!

Sorry, but you are wrong. The MEL rules do not allow a coach to vote for a player on his own team, so the example you used is blattenly untrue.

I'm not related to Jamie and don't know her family. But I did coach high school basketball for 14 years so I have some experience in evaluating talent.

Different MEL sports have different sets of rules. Good try though. It may be a rule in basketball voting, but not so in other sports.

Since you seem to be affiliated with Wood...go ask coach Boles who he voted for in the 2006 MEL player of the year voting. I'll bet you any amount of money it was for his Wide Receiver.

In the MEL football voting you are allowed to vote for your own player.

WOW...I just heard about this debate.
ALL news to me.
I have never coached Jamie....and being that she's only 17, I havent even been watching for 15 years.

Get a life. You are WAY to wrapped up in blogging.

The majority of people who post in this forum are only interested in spreading negativity and waiting to insult other bloggers. There really is no intelligent dialogue going on in here.

I would tell The Reporter to remove this string. The paper has no right to allow Jamie's name to be involved here in this trashy forum.

I only check out forum threads that involve the schools so I can call and complain when a child is being talked about.

Because of that pesky first part of "student-athlete". If you're as connected to Wood as you claim, you'd know that.

Well, being a successful student is part of the deal. If you cannot cut it in the classroom, then your college opportunities are reduced. Anderson will likely excell at Solano and hopefully there after.
