Our Democratic leadership is nuts. They are all worked up about the millionaires but forget that the tax hike starts at $250K. I'm sorry, but there is a big difference between the two. Any 2 income family (if they have professional jobs) makes more then $250. Their misdirected class envy is going to hit the upper middle class hard. By holding up this tax bill, everyone is going to get hit with a tax increase. Double dip recession, here we come.

Too bad CA's democrats didn't take a beating like the rest of the country. One more reason to leave the formerly golden state.

"Miller confirmed that he is against more tax cuts for big bankers and CEOs who "drove us into a recession and spent this year laying off workers while collecting million dollar paychecks..."

These big bankers and CEO's only get million dollar paychecks if their company make a huge profit. Using this same principal, applying it to our legislators, those like Miller would not get a paycheck.

As for layed off workers and creating a recession -- this is a direct result of government's deficit spending. 40% of governments "wealth" is borrowed from other countries. This is the reason we are in a recession.

Miller is just another socialist -- willing to destroy capitalism just to keep "union" support to get reelected. Redistribution of wealth does not work; it does not raise anyone's standard of living, it merely expands government control over the masses, creating evil dictators like those found in Venezula and North Korea.

As for me, give me liberty or give me death.

Miller is an asshole, always has been and always will.

If Miller and Garamendi are against these tax cuts, we know it's good for taxpayers, working Americans and their families. Democrat Code translation: "Hard working Americans = unions.

John Garamendi and George Miller are complete morons. I've told ol Johnny boy that to his face. I shut my business doors early this year and see no reason or incentives to open them back up. It was small and only had 11 employees but we did OK until I got hit with raising taxes and fees for everything it left me no choice but to shut down. The employees call and ask when I'll start up again all of the time. My only response is "Who did you vote for? that's the reason you are out of work Garamendi and Miller now deal with it." I have decided to move to a different state because of the imbeciles that elect these idiots. Carson City, Salt Lake, Boise and Phoenix are the most business friendly cities that have offered my company incentives to relocate.

The bottom line is if the Bush Tax Cuts are not approved, everyone, minimum-wage workers to millionaires, will take home LESS money on their paychecks!! This should not be a democratic vs republican issue. This is an issue of do you want to take home the same amount of money on your paycheck or do you want to take home less. As you see the democratic leaders who are against the tax cuts are going to impact those they say the represent, the middle class...hmmm food for thought.

Can't fix STUPID! And evidentally we, here in CA we can't be fixed! Just wait and see how much our taxes and everything else is going to skyrocket starting next year. If businesses are taxed more, they pass those costs on to the consumers. They have to in order to stay solvent. BUT, we still think that our lousy congressman, who have the lowest approval rating of any congress in history, can get us out of this mess doing the same thing they have been doing! Like I said, you can't fix stupid. Thank you Miller and Garamendi and the Union voters!

Excellent demonstration of intelligent reaction to government meddling.

This is incorrect. You can't take home less if you aren't paying any income tax now. According to an email I received, 47% of the American people do not pay anything at this time. You are correct that those of us who do pay will have even less incentive to work than we do now.

You jackwagon, how do you know these people are not at work taking a lunch (shift work) or coffee break and "reading" the online Reporter for cry sake? We do have electonic equipment to do that these days that doesn't necessarily belong to our employers. Talk about a buffoon, have you looked in the mirror lately.

No. There is no incentive to work so welfare recipients such as yourself, who get up at 11am with Rush yelling at you, can continue to sit on your fat rear end laughing at those of us who are productive.

Let me throw your own carp right back at you. Why aren't you working?

This class warfare is over the top. Those supposed "rich" people, for the most part, engage in risk taking every day if they are small business owners making $250K and over. Those "rich" guys are the ones who hire people to work for them...ah, yes, I suppose you liberals will call that "slave" labor, right?! Small business owners are already taxed up the ying yang. Ask one to explain to you all the taxes they pay on such things as inventory and payroll.

What is earned by someone belongs to them not the government and I don't care how freaking much money you earn. It is YOURS. The government acts like THEY are giving these "rich" people money and fail to understand that it is not their money to begin with and I am NOT rich so I am not biased.

Miller is a fool and the majority of CA are fools because they relected him.

Now to respond to the article and the Congressmen. As many of you have already noted, neither Garamendi or Miller have an economic clue.

Miller is simply regurgitating the party line in blaming the rich for everything. Wasn't it HIS party who gave these bailouts to insurance companies following the bailouts by Bush of the banking industry while MILLER'S party was in control of both houses of Congress? Yes the bailouts should never have occurred. What has George done to stop them other than to bleat the same old tired class warfare mantra?

As for lifelong politician Garamendi, does he really believe that $80 or $90 billion in tax revenues are "lost" with these tax cuts? Ever hear of the Laffer curve? Because of tax cuts, there is an incentive to hire as well as to make more money. Revenues actually increase from tax cuts. This will be demonstrated if these tax cuts are allowed to expire.

One other of Garamendi's statements need to be examined. It is not the business of government to create jobs as they have no idea what to produce. The market determines that. Private entrepreneurs determine that. Governments know only how to waste money.

A final point. Miller and Garamendi need to remember that their House majority is soon to go bye bye. One of these days all of you people who continue to vote your wallet are going to realize you would be much better off without those who tell you what you want to hear and with those who tell it like it is...and who know more about economics than a river rock ...

Personally, I only work until lunch time since I don't want to give the government more money. As for the others, since they are productive members of society that would mean that they are not completely stupid and could be multi-tasking.

If you were a good business person you would still be in business, it's called adapting. I highly doubt than any entity is courting you and your failed business since you are already a proven failure.

Trickle down economics do not work. It didn't work for Reagan (He lowered them and then had to raise them several times). Fixing the tax code, perhaps a flat tax would help......

Raising taxes during a recession does not work very well either
