A friend witnessed an accident on Highway 12 yesterday, May 19, in the area where you can go across the highway from Fairfield to Suisun. A young man driver who was not wearing his seatbelt somehow ran off the road and down an incline, rolling over and over.

My friend stopped and so did other people and an ambulance never came although a lot of people used cell phones to call for one. Finally one young cop showed up and by then witnesses were really mad at the slow response. He cop seemed inexperienced and didn't know what to do.

All this while, the driver is hanging upside down, bleeding terribly. After awhile the fire dept. showed up with paramedics and they found the driver dead. He was on his way home from taking his kids to school.

I wonder if we will ever see this story in the newspaper. Maybe it was, and I missed it. The woman who saw it happen is really angry that all the rescue people were so s l o w in showing up.

I haven't heard or read anything. I checked the DR and there is nothing there either.

I think your friend may be pullin your leg. First off if he was not wearing a seatbelt how would he be hanging upside down and secondly, if he was dead how do you know he was on his way home from taking kids to school.

There should be a way to research emergency calls Online to see if this really happened. The so-called witness is an elderly woman who lives in that area. She said the accident victim was hanging out of the wreckage, upside down, and it obvious he was not wearing his seatbelt. Also, she said that a fairly large crowd had stopped and someone among them knew the guy.

The problem is making an emergency call with a cell phone…it routes you to the CHP dispatch which takes all the info then transfers you to the local dispatch for the emergency service providers in your area, they then take all the information again! Too time consuming…

You are correct, if ever you need to call 911 from a cell phone make sure you detail your EXACT location.

Funny story, quite a few years ago my wife lit her car on fire on Browns Valley road outside of Vacville. The fire department didn't show up until one of the neighbors called from a land line. After her cell phone call the CHP dispatcher sent the call to Napa FD and they were driving up and down Browns Valley road in Napa looking for a car on fire.

Her birthday was coming up and she wanted a new one.

Not really. It had been parked for a long time and we think a posum or something got in and chewed through a fuel line.

Here's the link to the FF police log.

I didn't find anything on either log. I do know there were two accidents on Hwy 12 and one was a man who died, both on Monday though.

Thanks, Gem, for your info. And now... what did we learn from this incident (true or not, I do not know,)? Stay off Highway 12 if you can possibly avoid going there. Bad mojo.

You're welcome.I agree regarding Hwy 12 aka Blood Alley being scary.I went out of state last week, from Suisun, and my car navigation told me to take 12 to 99 I believe.I would not, and went out of my way and took 680. When I came home, I took 580. Last time I went, I drove up 80 past VV and toward Sac lol. The Sac way added about 45 miles to my route, but that bad Mojo scares me.

Mr. Bad Mojo's been riding the internet here, too. Bad juju!

Back to the topic then, smart thinking on your part.

Thanks for telling how you avoid Highway 12 and are willing to spend more on gas to take a longer way around. I'm the same way and think the long ribbon of death that we call Hwy 12 is haunted.

The way I look at it is if I take 12 I may not make it home alive to care about saving money on gas.Like I said, I've gone way out of my way, because I live in Suisun, and hwy 12 is lie two minutes from me, so for me to drive to Sac or 680 to another freeway is tedious and some extra time and miles, but peace of mind is priceless:-) Good to know I'm not the only one whose doing it. I know they have a wall between the two lanes on a portion of the hwy, but imo all that did was make each lane a lot skinnier. One morning I was driving behind a semi, it was still dark, and the semi kept touching the edge of the hwy, and he was driving a little bit fast. I have read stories of that hwy being haunted also. I call it blood alley. Did you hear about the two boys that were killed in a car accident a few years back, and another boy in the car is paralyzed?

What about the man killed last week coming from Main St in Suisun? I mean, I understand it was raining, but it wasn't a downpour like a few months back. I'm not faulting the driver, I seriously believe that hwy is haunted/cursed.
On the news last month, it showed a mom who has to walk her daughter to a bus stop and she has to walk across hwy 12 near Lodi, with her daughter, because the school bus no longer picks her up at her house. Can you imagine walking across that hwy?
