I wont bore you with the 4 years of hell Charter cable has put me thru. Poor sevice, overcharging, lying to customers, Techs that dont show up, You name it they have done it. How do you fight it when they are the only cable company in Uxbridge? Ive talked to other companies who would love to come here but they have to "Be invited In" What politician in uxbridge is getting kickbacks from Charter not to invite other companies in?? Thats what I would like to know!! I thought having a monopoly was illegal. Tell that to the politicians down at town hall in Uxbridge!!

Chrissy,

I feel your pain. Charter is a horrible company to deal with. I fought with them for *6 months* over horrible internet access (they had a bad server they *CLAIMED* they didn't have, in the end)....The 'politicians' better get on the stick and let Verizon bring in FiOS. I'm sick of charter.

Monopoly indeed.

I agree. I have had charter for a year and a half. My cable and internet have been shut off (Bill paid in full and on time.) for the term of a week TWICE. I then have to be here From 8-whenever or whenever-5 to wait for whatever douche they can conjure up. MONOPOLIES SUCK!

I just stumbled on this topis just now, and I completely agree. When i got charter they offered a free $100 gift card if u buy all 3 services. So I did and they sent me a $50 one and refuse to send me the correct one. Not to mention the service is terrible. I haved a Poor Signal message at least once a week and the call center may as well be a bunch of talkings monkeys.

They are absolutely terrible.
1.) The bill consistently arrives due in 2-3 days ... so if you are ever away the day the bill arrives, or God forbid the week, you are guaranteed to be late in your payment. I have repeatedly requested that billing arrive sooner to no avail.
2.) WORST customer service ever. my bill arrived one month almost 50% higher. I repeatedly called to inquire as to why and was repeatedly disconnected or transferred to Mexico and then disconnected. When I finally got someone they explained my promotional rate had expired - so I indicated that I wished to reduce to a smaller package. Disconnected. Infuriating. I swear they are trained to just hang up so people get so frustrated they simply give up and pay the difference. The second there is an alternative I am so there.

I have had many of the same issue with Charter as others here.

I think something needs to be done to allow some competition here. Anyone know the best route to take to get this ball rolling?

Get the town cable advisory commission to open talks with Verizon to bring FIOS service to town. Then there would be two comapnies offering cable, internet, and phone.

I have had horrible service from Charter. On the other hand I will throw out there that you can get services now that make Cable TV not so important.

For one, you can get DirecTV, and you can even get it as part of a bundle with internet and phone service from Verizon for about $100 per month (unlimited calling, high speed internet). So if you don't mind the dish mounted on your building exterior this is a good solution, and I can say from experience that DirecTV is actually better quality and better channel selection than Charter cable.

If you don't like this route, and you are a little more adventurous and have a computer and a good sized monitor, you can forego the cable TV, get the new Digital TV (upgrade box available), and then watch your shows online through Hulu.com , NetFlix, etc. Most of the networks are also starting to offer viewing of shows online.

All that said, I'll agree that getting Verizon FiOS or Comcast would be ideal.
