The soon to be restaurant and bar that replaces the Oyster Cabin on 146A has had an Opening Soon sign there for weeks. Anyone know when or if the restaurant will open? Uxbridge could use another place to eat since the Cocke n Kettle closed.

There hasn't been any activity there at all. Hope it isn't a sign of the time.

I have been watching for signs of life at the establishment. Checking the web as well. The opening soon sign is blowing away now. Heard that the new owner/owners had planned to open in the fall. Also new restaurant in Webster (Romana) just put up a beautiful new building thru the summer and NO activity there either for weeks and weeks. I think the signs of the times may be effecting this whole area with a vengence. If anyone hears anythng new about either of these places I would interested on the scoop.

It is planned to be open for easter. A whole new kitchen is being installed. The dining room and bar are staying original to the building and the banquet room is being transformed in keeping with the english tavern, pub flare. with new wallpaper, paint, lights ect...

There is more going on inside. The building was in disrepair from years of neglect after the original ye olde oyster cabin closed. many things were just covered over. and all the kitchen equipment had been taken out. a new well was drilled. 3000 gallon grease tank is being put in the ground. all which have to go thru state approval. so that speaks for the time. Sorry the sign blew away.high winds during a thunder and lighting storm. it was put up to detour people from stopping while things were trying to be done

Great! Thank you for the information. I am looking forward to a new restaurant in the area. It is a fabulous buiding. The Tavern aspect is just wonderful. I have also been in the service/hosptality industry for over 20 years and will be seeking employment,I would love to work in our local district. If you have any hints as to who to contact I would be delighted and it would be much apprecitated. Surely looking forward to the Grand Opening.

They're open for Breakfast and lunch only for now. I went there Sunday morning (soft opening) and it was a little chaotic and the service was very slow; but that's expected when you first start up.

My understanding is that the owner had a nightmare experience trying to get this place through the regulatory bureaucracy. New Kitchen, wells, grease traps, hoods etc. Then the economy tanked. The owner is the proprietor of Mom's in North Uxbridge (diner); and a car wash and laundromat in Linwood.
I think she wished she never started the venture. Good luck to her.

I went to Ironstones Tavern Twice since they opened. I went once for Breakfast and once for lunch. They had great food. It was very affordable for my large family. I am glad that a new resteraunt is in town. I wish the owner the best of luck.

If you are thinking of going out to eat in Uxbridge, DO NOT go to Ironstone's Tavern in Uxbridge, MA (the old Oyster Cabin Restaurant off Rt. 146). They had their Grand Opening tonight. My family and I went to the restaurant and it was one of the worst experiences of service I've received in a long time! It took over 1 hour for us to get our food. I ordered my son a Grilled Ham & Cheese with french fries and about 20 minutes later we got a Grilled Ham & Cheese w/ potato chips. Mind you we ordered the same time we ordered for my son, too. Then, after trying to feed him, he didn't want it, so we were going to order a meatball sub for him, but the waitress convinced us to order pasta w/ tomato sauce and meatballs.. That order came about 20 minutes later. The waitress came out about 10 minutes later and I told her how disappointed I was with the horrible service I was receiving. I requested to speak w/ the manager not once, not twice, but FOUR times. Well, we finally got our food about an hour and half later (My husband ordered a Seafood Platter w/ fries and onion rings. I ordered a Vegetarian Grille which was to include Portobello Mushroom, Green & Red Peppers, Mozzarella Cheese, Zucchini with a side vegetable and french fries.) We asked the waitress to box up our food. The manager and the owner (the owner I believe is also the owner of Mom's Restaurant in Uxbridge, MA) came to talk to the waitress and looked right at us and knew that we wanted to talk to them. Guess what, they ignored us and walked away! We got the check, which I couldn't believe still can't believe that they didn't give us a discount for the terrible service or at least talked to us, nope we went away with a sour taste in our mouth from bad service!!!! So, we get home and my husband got everything he ordered, I however did not get the side vegetable and my sandwich included button mushrooms (not Portobello Mushrooms) and Cheddar Cheese (not Mozzarella cheese). My husband's seafood platter wasn't that good either, the fish didn't taste that fresh (and this is from a guy that loves seafood and grew up in the New Bedford, MA area, so he knows a thing or 2 about good seafood).
So, as you can imagine, I'm not happy with the service and I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO IRONSTONE TAVERN AGAIN!!!!
