We won't know till it's official ,so for now ,we'll just see people make up reasons for them resigning. MERRY X-MAS AND A HAPP NEW YEAR ! everyone !!

Chief Garza and Asst Chief Arredondo did resign their post as of 12-10-08. THey both fgot fired in WEbb County (laredo) to be the 2nd and 3rd in command of the sheriffs office. they are moving because they were offered double the salary they are getting payed here and they have not been getting the help from city council here in uvalde. this overtime grap got the chief of police tired of the council. both men will do an exellent job in Laredo and we wish them the best of luck.

something else that didn't help is that the chief turned in his contract renewal last month, but the city manager (Harrel) didn't bother to tell anyone, not even the council. After 30 days with no talk or negotiations from the city, he resigned.

It's sad that the Uvalde Police Dept finally hired an intelligent man an the City
does not do anything to keep someone who has bettered the police dept in bringing in different programs and getting these men better trained through his great background. Come on Mr. City Manager take care of these fine men.

Maybe Mr. Harrell is suffering from the early stages of alzheimer's could be. Both Garza and Arredondo are good people maybe they will come back with time

If they're smart, they'll steer clear of Uvalde. This town has a bad history of not appreciating people who know what they're doing, while the f-ups stay.

One thing i am worried or concerned about, is why every time they had a drug raid .They always came out empty handed as if someone had warned these people. And everybody knows who the drug dealers are .it looks like the main highway traffic all day long .and then nothing, somebody that knew what was going down ,would give them advance notice.i am not pointing fingers but it makes you wonder whatz going on or was going on ?

Maybe it was about time Arredondo "resigned" and sure enough the Chief followed. Pete is no good for this town anyways, in my opinion like i said before, it's a good idea he leaves in a proper manner. i did't ever really like the guy anyway, but then again who did??

A tourist visiting Laredo, Texas walked into a pet shop and was looking at the animals on display. While he was there, a police officer walked in and said to the shopkeeper, "I'll take a Patrol Deputy monkey, please." The shopkeeper nodded, went over to a cage at the side of the shop, and took out a monkey. He fit it with a collar and leash and handed it to the officer saying, "That'll be $1,000." The officer paid and walked out with his monkey.

Startled, the tourist went over to the shopkeeper and said, "That was a very expensive monkey. Most of them are only a few hundred dollars. Why did it cost so much?"

The shopkeeper answered, "Ah, that monkey is an expert in firing small arms, can write 20 tickets a month, and is certified in small unit tactics -- well worth the money!"

The tourist looked at the monkey in another cage. "That one's even more expensive!$10,000! What does it do?"

"Oh, that one's a Deputy Sergeant Patrol monkey; it can instruct other monkeys in basic firearms skills, counter-terrorism training, physical training, small unit tactics, and investigative techniques, and it can even type. All the really useful stuff," said the shopkeeper.

The tourist looked around for a little longer and saw a third monkey in a large cage of its own. The price tag around its neck read $80,000. He gasped to the shopkeeper, "That one costs more than all the others put together! What on earth does it do?"

The shopkeeper replied, "Well, I haven't actually seen it do anything, but it says it's an Assistant Chief.“Display. While he was there
