Why is it that so many of you people are so quick to judge people who receive assistance? I myself am getting assistance now...I am a mother of two and work full time. Sometimes the money u make just isn't enough to get by especially with what people want to charge for rent now days because of the oilfield in the area. Working full time and budgeting like crazy and I still come up short quite often. Before u judge the person know their story

Totally agree people renting see the oil fld as $$$$$$ . There are homes available all over town due to high rent they aren't being rented. Cheapest I've seen is on maple $900 a month 3b 2 bth.

I wouldn't mind paying a 2 bedroom in or around $500 but for a house not an apt. Everything over 1000 is just ridiculous. The only reason I applied for housing is because every house owner who is willing to rent is over $700. A house payment is less than that.

I'm looking for 800 or below. 2 or 3 bedroom in a good area. Would prefer around Dalton or and east by airport.

Renters here need to remember how high our property taxes are in Uvalde. I own a 3 bedroom home valued at around 160,000 and my property taxes run $370 per month and my mortgage is $680 a month. Homeowners insurance adds another $100 a month. I would have to charge $1150 just to break even if I decided to rent it out. Homeowners aren't always looking to gouge you, they may just be making enough to cover their bills and whatever repairs they might have on the home.

And to think. Thats the problem you want to rent it out, jack the price so we pay for your house for you. If we could afford that why would we be renting. If I could afford the rent on your place why not get a place like that myself. We rent cause we cant afford that high. I can do 800. But what kinda house am I gonna have with that kinda money. I'm nit putting my son up in a dump thats for sure.
