The school district needs to get rid of that campus like yesterday's abortion. Like Pitbull says: It's time to shut this thang down!! Seriously though its out of control. The teachers and student and especially the parents don't give a rats ass really. But one thing is certain and that's that the teachers ought to give themselves a oat on the back. Yes because they have successfully fukt up the school district in allowing themselves to reach an all time low and have TEA come in and clean hizzouse. Congrats to the UJH faculty. Now you're going to be using up more of our hard earned money that the government rips from us to pay you unemployment. Thanks so much for the shitty future you have given these kids

Not only parents but also the UCISD - since 2006-2007 they knew
if there was no improvements for the following years, they were
going to be in this mess. Instead they ignore the situation and decide to go with Diana Crawford and what she decided for the campus. The UCISD needs to understand that teachers input is very
important and need to listen to them. They are with the students all day, and the administration visits once in awhile.
Yes there are students that have no respect and they need to understand that when they come to class and decide to show off that it reflects back on their parents.

The principals never visit the classrooms to make sure students are taught proper curriculum. With these low salaries, how can we get any good teachers anyways.

The truth about Uvalde is that no one values education anymore. People educate themselves to improve their lives, but it seems that Uvaldeans of all social and economical backgrounds just want to play the blame game. If this continues we all lose, but especially the Mexican-American community loses gains in reaching the American Dream. Just fix the problem and please do not blame teachers. Teachers in Uvalde are under paid (and yes, just like in any other profession there are bad teachers--most teachers are hard working people who want the best for their students).

It's not only Uvalde morons. It's like this everywhere. Only reason you see it that way is because Uvalde is the only place you see like this. They don't realize they make themselves look like complete fools. It seems they will just never grow up. I can go on and on but it would only be wasted.

Kids are lazy!!! They are not stupid, far from it! They are asked to respond to literary work and can't even give a half page response. It is one to two sentences. I was a teacher once and I am glad I pursued a different career. It is not every teachers fault and it is not every parents fault. Some I will admit are very ignorant and not very mindful of students but at the end of the day it is that kids job to get the work done. Ugh smdh!

Hi all. I am new to Uvalde, moved from the mid-west. I don't know much about the local schools or teachers here, however I did research the school ratings(based on the national rankings)see how they compared to where we moved from. We made the personal choice to home school our child, because of the lower academic ratings in the public schools, and also the politics involved. It is a shame that the public school system has become what it is today. It is not just the teachers to blame, I agree that most teachers do really care about their students education. It is society as a whole to blame. As a whole we have really become a sad lazy country. It is very frightening to think about what the future holds :(

The is because the stupid and arrogant members of the school board would rather spend thousands of tax money for something else other than for something important that would enhance and improve the education of all the students at the UJS.

Elaborate... No examples mentioned. I'm new to school politics, but please explain cause without example it seems like you're talking out of your ass.

The arrogant and stupid of Uvalde would say that "talking out of your a$$". You should be reading Uvalde Topix more instead of washing your brain every Thursday and Sunday with some very positive postings on how good the arrogant and stupid people of Uvalde really are. It is not uncommon practice by the arrogant and stupid to ask something they arrogantly and stupidly knew and crapped out already. You can for sure probide good examples and post more accurate numbers to your question.

If you want another good example, just look at that
disgusting NOBAMA sign along Uvalde Highway 90. The same arrogance and stupidity that messed up this school district and deprived Uvalde Children good education.

The junior high students in Uvalde, Tx are no different than any other junior high in the world, except maybe the foreign countries(Japan, China,Korea, Mexico). The students are all having a difficult time trying to fit in. They are faced with so many obstacles and such diversity, no wonder they walk around dazed and confused. Don't you remember what it was like when you were 12,13,14, or even 15? You are no longer considered a primary student. You are to young to be an adult. You are lost somewhere in the in-between. These students need guidance, patience, understanding, and compassion, with a big dose of tuff love. The teachers can only correct behavior so far. If the parent cries foul-well no lesson on behavior is learned there. The student can then do as he or she pleases, because mommy and daddy will handle it.
The students are not stupid or dumb, nor are they ignorant. In fact, it takes quite a bit of intelligence to pull off some of the things these kids do. But we were all teenagers before we became adults. We have done our fair share of rebel rousing.
The kids need to know that they have to make good choices as young adults and only they can be responsible for the outcome of those bad choices. Their parents did not get a book on how to raise a perfect child. As I recall when my children were born, Dr, Spock was barely in diapers. And he isn't all that knowledgeable.
I think it is time to get the media out of the Uvalde Junior High. Let the teachers teach the students. Not all of the kids are bad-just a few misguided people, with no respect for themselves or anyone else. Most of the students want to learn. But the media interfers and plants doubt in the public mind. The media cannot ever say anything nice about what the students are doing, only the bad stuff! There are kids learning all sorts of new things everyday there to make a better campus. No, only the lower grades and high school get praised in the paper. Never how good the junior high is doing with its students.
Did you know that the tardies are down over 75% from last year? Did you know that the absences are down almost 50% from last year or more? Did you know that there are teachers who work late to be sure the students have everything they need in the class to learn? NO they don't get overtime, no extra benefits-nothing, There are teachers that came from Dallas/OakCliff area to teach here because they knew the difficulties these students face.
Grow up Uvalde, quit living on the back page of the paper and go see for yourself how the campus and the students are improving. Quit throwing ghetto talk at the school and pitch in. Become a class sponsor. Times are tuff everywhere. Be part of the solution not another building block for the troublemakers.
