That's right! Their quest for a new superintendent ,aka puppet ,is another royal screwing of our students by atleast 4 members. The main qualification needed in the district to become super. is to be a yes person suckhole to the board.

Their egos are so huge a two ton boulder should be dropped on them. Their power hunger blinds them and clouds their brains. As for Lou L.,aka watchdog, has lost the scent a long time ago. Like with the Brooklyn one bus deal. Nice of you not to run a D&B check on them. What did that cost us tax payers? Maybe $ 250,000.

The Board is overwhelmingly elected with the consent/assistance of the Teacher's union. So, the people who get elected end up voting how the Teacher's union wants them to vote and ,in this case, who to hire. Does Proctor really need a principal for each academy? Does every school didtrict in Oneida County actually need a Superintendant. Richfield Springs and Mt. Markham couln't share one. Is there a difference between managing two districts with 500 kids and only one with 1000 kids?

Example of USB decisions: Around the same time USB was hiring the Pike Company to be construction manager for 180 Million dollar project the County of Albany was firing the Pike Company. Good research.

From Albany Times Union
ALBANY -- The county intends to fire the Pike Company as general contractor of the $35 million courthouse renovation project that is two years behind schedule with no relief in sight, officials said Tuesday.

Here is another article of the Pike company. apparently they were sued by Saranac School District. I guess the Utica School Board really does a good job in their investigations prior to hiring.

In other news, Business Manager Mike Kilroy said they’ve collected the $2.58 million settlement from the contractors blamed for structural problems at the high school, Petrova School and Bloomingdale Elementary.

Checks for $1.6 million from EYP Architecture,$770,000 from Ryan Biggs Associates and $150,000 from Pike Company have been received.

Lets look back at the safe school study. I think it was determined the maximum number of students / building should be 1500-1700. Naturally this was ignored to create one mass architectual eyesore with around 2500 students in the building. God forbid something tragic happens at Proctor. The reality of this cheaper option is you could have built two state of the art schools for less. Add up the money spent on additions and renovations you'd be shocked. Thank for *#:king our students again.

First off nice post GrapeVine, and a lot of other nice touches to show how the board runs the show here and really hurts the students!

Personally I think the board needs to be totally re-vamped! How could the board go outside with two potential candidates for superintendant when they had a local one who has changed a middle school drastically!?! Someone needs to come up with a good explanation..How do you interview the best but yet get told your not one of the final two? I mean to me thats a little fishy. The only explanation you will receive is that the local candidate was not a yes man and he knew the "ins and outs" of our district and our board of ed. The 2 people from long island area have no idea that they will be controlled by the board and have no idea how they screw everything up for the district which in the end, falls back on the superintendant. I am not going to say the past superintendants were good, but I wonder how they'd of done if they didnt have the board calling the shots all the time.

Another interesting thing I am very curious about is the hearing on mr. felhaber. This is turning into a joke, going on what 2 years now and you just keep giving the guy his $60,000 salary a year for sitting home...Oh ya, and attending any open public meetings they have in all the schools and board meetings? He says he'd come back to work and you tell him no, why? The guy may have done some wrong with some of the issues brought up but if you think he did some wrong, might want to look at yourselves "board" because um ya, you have made more mistakes over the past years than we can handle anymore, enoughs enough!

WHEN WILL THIS COME TO AN END?

-Superintendant should have been Rich Ambruso
-Board of ed. Needs to be made up of different individuals.
-Felhaber case needs to either be done with or make the guy come back to work...LIKE HE ASKED!!

I think the district is ready for some new young leadership starting at the BOE level. Someone should hand the almighty 7 a fully loaded semi-automatic to play russian roulette.

HOT OFF THE PRESS ( UTICAOD.COM )

Hearing costs at $250,000 and rising

The Utica City School District has spent more than a quarter of a million dollars on the year-and-a-half-long appeal hearing of a suspended Utica schools employee on top of his annual salary he continues to receive.

The district suspended Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds Craig Fehlhaber in April 2007, accusing him of various acts of misconduct, including neglecting his duties. He has appealed his suspension through a civil service hearing.

The record officially closed Monday as attorneys submitted their replies to briefs filed last month and the hearing is now in the hands of the hearing officer. A decision is expected to take several months.

The district has spent $214,750.53 through September in legal fees to defend its position. The district spent another $35,110 on more than 6,000 pages of transcripts for the 410.4 hours of hearings. The hearing officer has also charged the district $6,300.

“I have never experienced anything like that in 40 years of practicing law,” the district’s attorney David Larrison said

Some pretty senseless sh*t by the Utica City School District, not for nothing but what is going to be Lapollas response if Mr. Felhaber comes back (with all the money spent)? Oh and what does Barbara Klein think of all the money that was spent, god for bid I ask what Marilyn Skermont thinks that would be very dumb of me. I sure wish someone would own up to making all these mistakes. This money could be going towards our schools or our kids and yet they are going to lawyers, transcript pages, and the hearing officer.

I haven't seen a murder trial take as long as this Craig thing. The magnificent seven must have some concrete evidence somewhere. They must still be looking for it. Another quarter mil down the crapper. This is doing our students some good.

At Board Meeting last night it was brought up during the Public Forum that Skermont has not returned phone calls of a few people she was dealing with.

How about todays newspaper,it's ok to lie on a resume'according to our board members. Now that is a great message to send to our kids. This is a great start for the new super. Just remember that no matter which one is chosen it's just a prop for this ignorant board. I'm calling for all members to resign from the boe before they f*^k these kids some more.

The Utica City School District gets what they deserve with the next superintendant!! You have your two final candidates make the public believe one thing about how long you are in a position and then the truth comes out and its different than what was told. Hmm, somethings is a little fishy here...Not even hired and already lying, it must be a trend in Utica, must like the screw-ups.

Then, this is where it gets good...The board (Lou LaPolla, says "he was not concerned")

Not concerned that both candidates are lying to the public already and are not even hired yet, getting off to one hell of a good start!! Sure wish for once we could get an honest superintendant and one who cares about the kids and the schools and not one who cares about one thing only...$$$

this superintendant picking again is just a smoke screen by the boe until lapolla's suck hole crackhead karam ages a few years so they can appoint him for his final years until he retires.they already have every family member but one on the payroll. regarding watch dog lapolla he sees only what he wants to,there is so much misuse of money in the district, taxpayers would never vote these people in again. lapolla just likes to grandstand, either he doesn't really know what's going on or he's just playing stupid and turning the other cheek. with what their wasting they could hire probably 15 much needed teachers for the growing population in the district. it's just becoming a bigger joke each day.
