Palmieri already made it clear that he would not touch the cadillac health care contracts Roefaro gave them until 2015, which is a 3% tax hike each year. Plus we still have the 6 million in debt were still paying down that Roefaro left and have to pay the federal government the $160,000 he mis-used. Where in the world are these generational taxes Roefaro imposed ever going to end. We are talking about 15%-20% tax increases every year. You wonder why he quit, he made his raw deals for taxpayers and split.
Utica is on an unsustainable fiscal path and the Mayor like the last two have raising taxes as there only solution. How and when are we going to be able to get the State in here? Roefaro already proved that spending was his only agenda and now taxpayers are being raped, robbed and looted by Palmieri without fiscal change. What can we the homeowners do to stop the onslaught of tax increase to come?

Someone needs to write a letter to the Governor AND the Attorney General explaining the history of our corrupt politicians (especially Roefaro) and the fact that only 33%(mostly Senior Citizens) are the ones that will struggle to pay any taxes over the 2% cap.

Why should the taxpapers be responsible for lining the pockets of politicians? It is quite evident they don't care about us - why should we care about what will happen to them if the Control Board takes over the operation of this City?

Sending Cuomo the Huomo or the AG a letter would be as useful as sending a note in a bottle to europe. It would most likely be ignored at best and at worst would get a laugh that would be shared with the very people you were complaining about. The entire state is corrupt and inept. They don't care anyone who points out their problems becomes and enemy of the system and ignored.

Check there wages, perks, health care, and bennies before Roefaro took office and after Roefaro quit office and you wonder how the rubber stamp council let him get away with it and he himself wasn't hung in the round-a-bout Oneida Square by angery mobs of taxpayers. If we could only get wages back to pre Roefaro this city would be in good shape again.

Palmieri better start acting like a leader and stop doing business as usually as the Roefaro, family and friends plan? You can't put a budget together which requires more spending than you take in. You know the cities revenues are deteriorating, jobs are leaving, and welfare is increasing nut yet he show us all in his first term he is nor willing to address our unsustainable path which increases the burden on taxpayers while lowering services. This half-ass way of doing business and running a small city haS TO STOP. We need to right size public safety and keep wages in line with the cost of living and not the cost of doing business in larger cities and over paying and benefiting 300-400 guys at the detriment of hard working middle class families. There is absolutely no Mayor ever to prove his leadership and only follow decades old policies that got us into this mess in the first place. GOD HELP US ALL because it seem hell will freeze over before things will ever change.

With property taxes going up so much there will be a proposal down the road for Utica to institute a city income tax. Anyone who works in Utica, regardless of where you live, will have to pay 1% of their gross income to the city. Rome was considering this years ago when Joe Goof-o was mayor but never got out of committee. This will seal the fate of Utica for good.

Uticas fate was sealed with the Roefaro beefed up sweetheart contracts. Palmieri and the UPD can not have it both ways, where they don't want to take cuts for more manpower. The contracts are unsustainable where Roefaro promised taxpayers that everyone who moved away years ago were all coming back to Utica because of your highnesses presence(the King). He is not Mayor anymore the contracts were not negotiated in the best interest of taxpayers and was a downright crime during the worse reccession since the great depression where he made Taxpayers pay even more with sacrafices while the brotherhood showered themselves with his gifts of comfort and joy. The rubber stamp council jumped all over his trust me remarks while robbing us blind and leaving the city on it's current path to bankruptcy or a State control board because we all know they aren't going to favor the taxpayers despite their poverty. Who will take the lead to bring in the State after the unions don't budge with even more demands once the budget process gets underway and they storm city hall again. Every year they make the cuts only to be restored by the mayor just weeks after budgets pass. Spending is never going to created different results if you don't have a tax base to pay for them.

Remember one thing - almost all spending by the City of Utica has to be approved by the Common Council.

As of now, the Common Council only does what it is told to do by the politians that put our City in such a financial mess. None of them think independantly except the two Councilmen at large.

When election time comes again this Fall, throw these rubber stamp robots out and replace them with people that have a business background and a proven track record - and have no ties to any of the current politicians.

The city wants to use Schennecdaty when it comes to a model in there street scapes because it is of the same size but when it comes to public safety it's a different story. Schennecdaty has 142 police officers and Utica has 172. What's wrong with this picture?
Either our police officers are doing a bad job or our criminals are doing a good job?

How can a city with the same number of residents have such a wide gap in hired officers? How much of Schencdaties budget goes towards public safety? I believe Utica just has a lack of disipline in spending the taxpayers money!

Ring ring, budget time. This years budget is going to be a tough year. The line we have been hearing for three mayor in ten years, all of them doing the same thing and expecting different results. The only thing that remains the same and is constant is your increases in taxes which has gotten larger and larger every year. This year will be no different as the city continues to spends more money that it takes in. Yes, taxpayers it's certainly going to be a tough year and it's going to cosy you more money, much more more! Raising your taxes sky high is our Mayor's only solution to our unsustainable fical path which never gets addressed like some great miracle is suppose to happen and city hall might get it's act togather and chane the evil ways but don't hold your breath as you need to be prepared for another big hit to your wallet.

Do you know that the Chiefs and Palmieris two cars could have paid for a whole years worth of salt for city roads? They emphasize public safety but do you realize DPW provides more public safety in the work they do than all of our UPD&UFD.

They are the model department everyone wants UPD to act and function like:

SAT, 26 JAN 2013 14:52:00 EST
SCHENECTADY -
The Schenectady Police Department says some officers who attended an off-duty party featuring strippers will be disciplined for unprofessional conduct.

Police officials tell local media outlets that an investigation of the Dec. 19 party involving 20 officers didn't reveal any illegal activity.

The officers on the midnight shift had hired strippers for a party at a Schenectady bar owned by a retired officer.

Authorities didn't say Friday how many face discipline, which could involve letters of reprimand or loss of vacation or personal days.

Starting in the 1990s, the Schenectady department was the focus of a string of lawsuits, prosecutions and corruption investigations involving several officers and a former chief who served prison time for cocaine trafficking.
