whoooh whoooh the bus garage was bid out at $3.39 million http://www.uticaod.com/news/x493664047/City-f... now it 5 million http://www.wktv.com/news/local/Construction-o... did the hotel utiica owner Charles A. Gaetano charge the tax payers intrest on the 5 million loan he isnt paying he is the contractor on this winning bid how did the price go up??? also i seen alot of extra building material how come the city doesnt get the extra building material to use and or auction off how did this jump up from $3.39 million to 5 million even the demo of the extra add on was 300.000 we the tax payers had no advanced notice but then again i said in early post it would be higher also i seen the new driveway Gaetano built next to the building for his parking lot and new sidewalk next too the bus center that allready had access on elizabeth street so why did he build without permission from the city and or permits or even pay for a permit on bleecker street for sead driveway all these things have to be approved and notifyed to land owners withen 200 feet of property that never happend he just did it on his own and took parking spaces from the city and used tax payers money for his extra driveway it is right nexxt too the building on bleecker street address the 124 bleecker street old securty building go take a look yourself tax payers no reason for him to have two entrances that parking lot is one parcel no need to take more parking spots on the street

They must have used the same contractor that did the Lindsey Center on James St. The end cost was several hundred thousand dollars more than first quoted.

what about people who want to drop off family and pick them up no parking and or access to do this it looks as if only busses can enter and exit and or park no spots for taxies no spots for family to stand and or park they should use clark street behind with a drive way to bleecker street to drop off and pick up family members and to park in the old building they demo down for this purpose they built a drive way entrence next to that place so use that drive way to enter and exit for people who drop off and pick up and that parking lot for tax payers public parking the city leaders have to acomitated the tax payers people will be comeing in from out of town and leaveing at this bus center they said bernie bus would be useing this bus location and they go to rome syrcuse ny albany and people want to pick up family and or friends from out of town and or if they are useing just the city bus this is clearly a oversight if we dont speak up they will only uses this parking for city and bus workers only

Just wait till all them buses have to go up and down Genesee which the city wants to turn into one lane. This is going to be a nightmere gone bad.

The only reason that projects like this get approved are because they can be used as a way to skim taxpayer cash from by everyone involved. Nobody with a conscience could think of something like this with the current condition of Utica. The same goes for the previous administration. Fix the infrastructure of the city first! Tighten up the spending and get efficient with our tax dollars first! Lower the already way too high tax rate first! Do all of those things before wasting money on things that aren't necessary!

The new bus tranfer station is one of the best transportation projects Utica has seen. The transfer point for Centro has been outside at the busy corner for a long time. Bus patrons regularly cross Gennesee Street without regard to the crosswalk which is dangerous and disruptive to traffic. This has long been a detriment to our downtown and makes us look bad to tourists and prospective business investors. Now bus patrons will be in a safe place out of the rain, snow and cold. The construction issues and cost overruns should be monitored by the proper city department with competent, educated professionals.

Competent, educated professionals do not exist in Utica.

Yes I'll agree. Jaywalkers make the city of Utica look extremely bad to tourists. Much worse than the crumbling infrastructure. Those rundown vacant buildings and potholes aren't nearly as bad looking as the jaywalkers.

No matter WHAT the city does to try & make improvements, you'll always have people pissing & moaning about about SOMETHING! Sad but true, NOTHING is ever good enough. I for one, am happy about the new project! At least we wont have to worry about the idiots who don't know how to cross the street properly!

You're right, it happens every time. And the only reason it happens every time is because people like you are so busy cheerleading for any little sign of improvement, that you can't see the obvious oversights and poor judgment behind some of the decisions. Are you going to honestly say that a new bus shelter is money well spent compared to the condition of the Utica streets that we have to drive on every day?
I understand that there are people like you that are desperate to promote any and every positive thing about Utica. But when you do that at the expense of the major issues staring you right in the face, it's called "denial". And nothing good ever comes out of that.

Some do live in Utica, they just don't work at city hall, and have no desire to be crusified in public.

wtf are you people talking about this is about the price not the improvements of utica the price was bid at 3milliong and now its 5million why do we have a bid prosses if its going to jump two million... i have been driveing by this site and seen with my own eyes extra bilding supplys and they charge us more they should have no supplys left we should get a refund for the extra items and or it given back to us,,, their is no reason to have extra anyways because of the math but i guess no one knows how to do the math i could go and messure the site and the building and metal and add it all up right now and it will be less then what he bought and the rate to employ the workers who can fullfill the project and it will be lower again

This is Utica. Everything here gets done Utica style. Extra materials are ordered so the contractors can keep the excess stuff and resell it. Is it any surprise to anyone that they ordered an extra 2 million dollars in materials at taxpayer expense? This stuff has been going on for years and years. Its not news here.

You'd think all the welfare bus riders would be able to pool their resources together and brainstorm a more cost effective solution than Charlie G? Bwah hahahahahaha Oh that is a good one!
