Aretha Franklin's back-up singer had the pleasure of accompaning me to Space 26 this past evening. We had a wonderful evening at Space 26!

After she performed at the Stanley, she was exausted and couldn't come out. THANK GOD for Ms. Eileen!

ms. Eileen...your performance at the Aretha concert was amazing! Thank you for coming out to Space 26 after to hang out.

You're always welcome here in Utica, NY

Where is this place? Is this the one on Bank Place? And why do you think its a gay bar? I had only heard it was small and the drinks were expensive.

Space 26 is a locally owned establishment. It's probably the nicest place to sit and have a drink. Nice atmosphere and great martinis. If it's too costly for you, put on your tan Docker's and head to Cavallo's.

WTF.

That's interesting. Its funny how things evolve like that. I wonder though, why you assumed it was "too costly" for that person, just because she mentioned what she had heard. And why you had to bundle an insult in your remarks? What's the point of being mean. I see this over and over again on these boards.

The Utica Rome area is the area that has no gay/lesbian bars,it used to have three. That Place is a dive,we need more gay clubs in the area where everyone is welcome and can just have some fun, really gay or not they are always the best places.Space 26 is cool but if its a secert real gays won't like it.

This is one of my favorite spots in Utica. Drinks are a bit more expensive because you can't get them anywhere else, their good and the atmosphere rocks. It's a place you can go to pretend you are somewhere else. We need more places like space26.

How can you tell if it's a gay bar, anyway. You can't tell by looking at a person if they're gay or straight, I don't think. Most people aren't stereotypes.

You sound bitter...answer me one question...why would i drive to NYC for the atmosphere when I can go to Space for the same thing?

Sounds like you're a thug or don't have enough cash to afford the drinks there - though they're not that costly. The people that hang out there are not wanna bes, they are all professionals! Let me guess, you must hang out at the more superior bars...Dicks, shorty's, cavallos, etc.

Looks like he had a little trouble with his spelling.........usually happens with high school dropouts. Try sounding out those words, I think you can figure out what he meant. A vulgar reference to a particular sex act.

Three? About 18 years ago, Utica had 4 at the same time! That Place, Whispers, Chic's and Reflections. There were a lot of others that came and went. Unfortunately, That Place is the only one to remain, and it's a dirty dump which caters to a small group of trashy queens.
