Is how they make it! This place is a great value for your money. I have had lunch from there a million times. You can tell them no mayo and you'll probably get it anyway. Once the guy waiting on me asked if I wanted mayo and, of course I said no...he turned around and put mayo on my sub anyway. When I called him out on it, he said "too late now". Anyway, thats my little story about the place. They are $4 for a nice size sub, hard to beat!

Franco's in North Utica are the best in Utica.

The best in the area, you have to venture up to Rome and go to La Roma's. Gigantic subs that taste great.

wouldn't go - SUBWAY off Albany by Culver Ave. What a joke. They use this conveyor type system where someone gets the bread, puts on the pre-calculated meat, the next person puts on the cheese (thinly sliced - four transparent slices placed along the length of the sub-you can't even taste the cheese!), the next person adds the toppings - tons and tons of lettuce with all other toppings sparce! Lastly, you have to ask for mayonnaise or oil - otherwise they won't ask - then they put the mayonnaise on top of the mounds of lettuce and other toppings. I asked them why they did this and they said "company policy." Well, alrighty then, screw how the person paying for the sub would like it - "it's company policy" -lastly there was a sign on the wall; any large sub and soda you get a "free" bag of chips. I took that deal - would you like to know how much this value meal cost? Over $9.00! I almost dropped! This was not a heated sub this was a standard roastbeef sub! So NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Go if you want but the owner is laughing all the way to the bank. I will not go back - I will support local business (Tony's, Oscugnizzo's, Alberto's - which actually give you a sub far less expensively and much more fulfilling! Think about it people, these big chain businesses pushing the little guy out - they suck! Think twice about supporting them! They're only after the money, not the quality or quantity of food that the local businesses will give!

Since some want to go out of the city, try the Remsen Bakery, Main Street, Remsen, NY. In store made bread, rolls, buns and shells. The only problem, no provolone. But up here, who cares. Not many eyeties.

Havn't been to LaRoma in Rome in years, but the did have the best subs by far! In Utica... Yeah, Mello's hands down... For PIzza and wings I like Tony's in Washington Mills, gotta sub there the other day... last time I make that mistake. Nothing like they used to be...
