The Utica Sign is wonderful! Now I can be proud to live in Utica, if for no other reason than there is a sign to tell me where Utica is. This sign will bring tourists from all over the globe to Utica. It is certain to become the eighth wonder of the world! It is destined to become a more popular destination than the Parthenon or the Coleseum. Why bother going to NYC to see the Statue of Liberty when you can see the Utica Sign? This will bring prosperity and jobs to Utica and it will be the saving grace of the Mohawk Valley.(Okay, I guess now its time for me to take my meds.)

I simply cannot fathom the lunacy and stupidity that had to go into planning and erecting this public eyesore. What logic is there in putting such a tiny little sign on top of a relatively larger scaffold, and then decorate it with unrecognizable hyroglyphics? On a clear day, you can almost see the word "Utica" if you happen to look out the car window while driving down North Genesee Street, between Wendy's and the Happy Journey Motel, and don't blink. They letters look very small. The undecipherable decorative lights underneath them are relatively huge and much brighter. If it wasn't for the "Utica" in little red lights on top, one could mistake this debacle for an unidentified flying object that just landed in the midst of the Utica swamp. Please, please if you have any redneck friends with legal firearms, give them a twelve pack and persaude them to do some target practice.(just kidding) This thing is just one more thing to add to the list of what makes Utica the laughing stock of New York State. Its bad enough that we have WKTV, the OD, clown after clown for mayor, and now, the Awful Tower.

The sign is paid for by private money and has a point. Unlike the Boilermaker which is paid for by writeoffs and indirect grants in addition to the money they charge. Even the beer is a tax writeoff so yes Utica even pays for that. At least the owners of the sign don't live off Utica and shove their hobby in your faces 200 days a year.

The Boilermaker might be one of the few things that is good about Utica. The Boilermaker is the only time Utica ever feels like a normal city, for one day a year. It actually brings people here from many other places. People who spend money here at hotels and restaurants. It brings money into the Utica economy. It is a substantial event that Uticans can legitamately be proud of. Conversely, the Utica Sign is an embarassment. It is something that people poke fun at. It does not provide any benefit whatsoever to Utica, and does not bring people into the area. It is the butt of many jokes. People driving down the Thruway are simply wondering WTF is that?

Trust me the effort wasted on that faggotmagnet Boilermaker is EXACTLY part of why that place is so fcked up. You're just a little gullible. If they spent half the effort paving ALL the streets and cleaning ALL of Utica and writing "investigative journalism articles" as they did on the Boilergasm you would have more to look at the rest of the year. Few people really GAF so stop pretending the GoofAthon is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Remember the sign is none of your business it's private and doesn't suck money from Utica, and they kiss all the local politician's azzholes every week about it. Get a grip. Do you ever get out of NY?

The Utica sign is nothing more than a massive eyesore. It is a plague on the sensibilities of rational people. It has no point other than being as incredibly ugly as possible. It is a public display of what is wrong with Utica. Nobody I have talked to says anything good about it. Its time to unplug this awful and disgusting thing before Utica turns into a bigger laughingstock than it already is.

Actually, UTICA is a massive eyesore, and a plague on the sensibilities of rational people. It is awful and disgusting, and a laughingstock - but now it has a SIGN!

I finally rode by this stupid thing....They ought to put a big billboard with a picture of Jeff Foxworthy right below it...... In all seriousness what the hell was the purpose of this thing ? Maybe to let everyone know to start holding their breath as they drive through so they don't get a wiff of the well known stench Utica emits ? Or maybe it was to let the governor actually know where the hell the place is ? They should have just put a sign up saying you're halfway between Albany and Rochester and the Adirondacks are to the North....

This certainly serves as "The Utica Warning Sign". Letting everyone know who passes us by, that they should just pass us by. It is in poor taste, and without a purpose or reason. It is nothing more than ego gratification for the Utican who put it there. I can only wait until this sign craze catches on with the rest of Utica. I'm sure the next super sign will be the "Cornhill" sign.

What they should do is add all the supporters that are keeping utica going like,

Utica college, suny it, mvcc, "moes" and yes i hate to say it but the boiler maker. Now here are the things killing utica. Contractors that are local, we should send them out to pull capital in. You know a good contractor when they have more jobs out of the city or the state than local. Why because they are rid bidding. Hold up yes it makes alot of sense. Continues.... lol okay! Turning stone is sucking the poor and middle class dry. Rich people dont need to gamble thats why they stay rich poor and middle class try to become rich and lose more than they gain. Grants and niagara mohawk is like arrons way. These are programs controlled by scum bag greedy individuals politician of utica and ny state. Washing there hands while making them look like they give a fk isnt that rightttttttt..... so how do we get back and teach them to stop messing with us.. just let it be. As seen on tv they are all headed for self distruction.
