Does anyone know what was going on at the Algonquin Apt. on Thursday night around 10:00 pm? There were about 7/8 police cars there parked every which wat and the police were standing by the building - lights flashing - didn't see an aambulance or fire trucks - did not see anything on the 11 news.

Obviously you are not from Utica - it has been there for 60 + years that I have been alive. It is located on Genesee Street - across the street from the Obliston Apts. - but not the gated apartments.

yes, police were called and found 180 pounds of pure rock cocaine, 732 plants of marijuana growing, 1,200 hits of crack, 7,317 prescription pills, 137 different alcoholic beverages, naked hookers that were getting banged by the guys that abuse them, 237 empty cartons of cigarettes, 2,677 used condoms, all kinds of different needles used for many different drugs. All paid for by the working population of the greater Utica area and beyond.

We lived in the Algonquin in he 1970s when it was owned by the people who owned Hillcrest Manor. It was a beautiful building and mosly rented to retired folks. What happened to it that the cops raided it and found cocaine, etc. How sad! I wish I could buy it and restore it to its former glory!
