The last few times I went to Stevens Swan I notice that mostly there are pitbulls housed there. When I ask the question why there are so many pitbulls there, all I get is silence. You cant even walk by their cages without them barking, growling and lunging at you. Who on earth would adopt them? The very few normal, other breed of dogs they have there are stuck between them monsters. I think someone there has a soft spot for these monsters and Stevens Swan is becoming a pitbull rescue. They should be cracking down on these people who keep breeding these monsters.
you are soooo right!!!! Pit bulls are 85% of what they have. No one but cornhill residents want them because they have vicious.

pit bulls are and always were very lovable dogs. In the 30's they were the most popular family dogs, due to the loving disposition they have. because they are strong, they are abused, this makes them mean! The idiots who take them due soley to a rumour find they need care like any other animal and cannot care for them in the manner they need. any animal, mis-treated will become mean, because of mis-information, rumours and just plain stupid people who refuse to listen to reason, the poor dog has no chance of being what they are supposed to be, a loving dog. I have a pit, he is with out a doubt, a wonderful loving, caring animal. He is treated well, with lots of attention (that they need, and many ignore) and he will never attack unless you try hurting me or my family, but any dog will do this. Mine is afraid of the cat!( who puts him in his place!) and he knows it! So, instead of perpetuating a rumour, get some trythful facts before you do any further harm to people who are uninformed, and un-educated aboutthis breed. I hear BS every day about them.
It is well know that 95%of pit bulls are dangerous and vicious NOTHING changes that

Treat any dog like shit, beat it, starve it, what do you think it will do when you go near it after months or years of that kind of abuse? It's not the dogs fault someone mistreated it (can you at least agree to that?). I've got some of my own issues, come up on me and startle me and you'll wish you had a pitbull to get me off you. Its no different with these dogs. The viscious ones generally have reason for being that way...just like people.

You're wrong.

In 2011, pit bulls led these attacks accounting for 71%. Pit bulls make up less than 5% of the total U.S. dog population.

Less then 5 percent of the dog population but account for 71 percent of attacks, how do you even post such garbage ?

<quoted text> Because the macho innercity gansta wannabes who think owning a pitbull makes them look tough are irresponsible morons who don't know enough to come in out of the rain. Their girlfriends all have babies and they have pitbulls and I agree with a previous poster, neither group should even be allowed to own a pet rock. These guys are pthetic losers who don't realize that owning a dog or fathering a child and not taking responsibility for it just shows them for the lowlife scum that they are.

yes, but I'd the name of another breed before I leak this info. And since you had to respond with a foolish remark I take it you don't have another breed to name. Not surprising.

I tried to be amusing and not making you out to be an idiot, but I see you're intent on it.

See idiot, dog bites, attacks are tracked by the gov, police agency's. Every time a dog is abused where does the report go ?

Some private organizations have tracked what they found in public records. Such as in 2007 your pit bull was found to be the highest.
Now to the part where we see how your parents should have played classical music while you were in the womb.
Show me who has gone around and found every case of abuse, reported and not reported to public agency's and the distinction between real abuse such as starvation and training the dog to be aggressive.

Why don't they keep track of the abuse cases? Theres certainly enough of them, they just give these idiots a slap on the wrist and let them do as they please, its not much better for child abuse (which is basiclly the same thing, another life depending on you for survival) but thats another issue.

I don't have a pit, don't know anyone who does. I think its unfair for the owners to treat this specific breed of dog badly and then the breed get's the bad name making everyone afraid of them. Yeah, they are the most dangerous dogs, why? Cuz they look beefy and like they can take care of business, which makes ppl with no brains or balls to take care of themselves want them, they can't take care of themselves and they go get a dog which is another life to take care of. The dogs end up being starved and mistreated and somehow its the dogs fault because he has trust issues from a shitty owner? How? He didn't choose this moron, this moron chose him. Like if you did the same thing to a lab or poodle you wouldn't get the same exact results? Trust is trust, once its gone you will never get it back, however, someone else may. Which is why, I would guess, they try to rehab and adopt out the least aggressive of this breed that had a crappy start.

I understand were you're coming from. But adding this to a public tracking system would cost a lot of money, you have to remember that when public system gets involved, they can't handle anything with wasting money. I never said any reason, just pointing out the numbers. Unfortunately some of the posts above are correct, its the owners and they seem to be the low end of society. Does this breed have the highest percentage of attacks, yes, is it the dog, no. Is there something that can be done, no, it would fall onto the realm of discrimination.
Its a shame.
