Oh, fine. Have it your way.

I've adopted dogs from Stevens Swann and DO know what I'm talking about re: Pit Bulls. But if you have to yammer on about it, have at it.

The dogs are not the problem.

Of course, you know better than people who have owned the breed.

I won't have any part in racist rants.

You are an idiot who knows nothing about this breed or pets in general to make such a foolish remark.

I'll bet over 80% of pitbull owners who had their kids mauled by their own dog all thought the previous day "My dog is perfectly safe, is great with my kids and couldnt harm anything because I've had it for so long and nothing happened cuz I'm not one of those bad owners"

It's like saying = "Hey, handling dynamite and nitro is harmless if you know what your doing and nothing has happened before."
You never know what will happen, but if it goes bad, it'll go REALLY bad, no matter how careful you were before it. The potential is just not worth the risk.

The last few times I went to Stevens Swan I notice that mostly there are pitbulls housed there. When I ask the question why there are so many pitbulls there, all I get is silence. You cant even walk by their cages without them barking, growling and lunging at you. Who on earth would adopt them? The very few normal, other breed of dogs they have there are stuck between them monsters. I think someone there has a soft spot for these monsters and Stevens Swan is becoming a pitbull rescue. They should be cracking down on these people who keep breeding these monsters.
pit bulls are and always were very lovable dogs. In the 30's they were the most popular family dogs, due to the loving disposition they have. because they are strong, they are abused, this makes them mean! The idiots who take them due soley to a rumour find they need care like any other animal and cannot care for them in the manner they need. any animal, mis-treated will become mean, because of mis-information, rumours and just plain stupid people who refuse to listen to reason, the poor dog has no chance of being what they are supposed to be, a loving dog. I have a pit, he is with out a doubt, a wonderful loving, caring animal. He is treated well, with lots of attention (that they need, and many ignore) and he will never attack unless you try hurting me or my family, but any dog will do this. Mine is afraid of the cat!( who puts him in his place!) and he knows it! So, instead of perpetuating a rumour, get some trythful facts before you do any further harm to people who are uninformed, and un-educated about this breed. I hear BS every day about them.

Because of the never ending breeding to sell the dogs and if they don't sell them they are abandoned and left to the shelter. I hope this answers your question.

Remember, it's not the breed that makes them vicious, it's the owners.

Yeah, lions and tigers in the circus and zoo aren't vicious - it's the tamers, trainers and zookeepers

Its decadence. why would most, not all people. and you know who they are, would own a dog when they cant even take care of their self? people on welfare shouldnt be able to own a dog how are they feeding it or caring for it. what if it need serious medical? they can't and then they end up at the shelter.

You my dear deserve to burn in a lake of fire.. Only after all of your worst nightmares come true one by one... A slow painful inhumane horrible torture! No one with a heart would say such things about a loving sweet kind animal. You are ignorant and at this point JUST STUPID! Go crawl in a hole somewhere.

Guess what breed of humans(?) like to own pitbulls. The breed that can't even take care of their own 6 kids. It's no surprise that they can't take care of a dog and it ends up at SS.

No, I just want to know why there are so many pitbulls at the shelter and only a couple of other dogs, which you cant even look at without getting lunged at by one of the pitbulls.
they want ro be loved. the owners drag them around the city on chains to look tough. then they are taken away because they are not fed. if you think they spend their money on dog food you are nuts. poor animals. adoption is too easy

I have two shelter dogs. Both were high energy dogs when I adopted them. One had been adopted previously and then returned to the shelter because the new owners couldn't handle her. In the four months I've had her, she's become a different dog.

Like any other "throwaway", all she needed was a predictable routine to restore her confidence. Routine, attention, and praise. Dogs and people have a lot in common. Give them a reason to trust you and you can work wonders. The nice thing about a dog is that he's motivated to please you.

Pits are sweet dogs by nature. But if you beat and starve and neglect them, they'll do what they can to survive. Any dog will. Most humans will, too.

Those Pits at SSHS deserve a better life.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Virgo

It's a rather low-key day with a few disappointments to cope with along the way. If you were looking forward to a social event, such as meeting up with friends, it may fail to live up to your expectations. It might even be delayed or postponed through no fault of your own. There could also be problems about how much something is going to cost, forcing you to scale down your plans to make them more affordable.
