Double the price to cut readership in half, Not a wise thing to do. I bought the Sunday OD EVERY Sunday for 35 years. Stopped buying it when it went to $2.00 and haven't missed it at all. I can't imagine people paying $2.50 for it, they really should just shut it down, and put all the ads in the Penny Saver.

No difference since the news they're reporting is already 2-3 days old. Dumped them 2 years ago. We get the paper at work and I still don't read it.

I get my news off the internet which is current, up to the minute for free.

Why spend money on a piece of paper filled with local gossip and day old news?

Turn the computer on before you leave for work every morning and you can find all the news you want before the OD even gets around to printing it.

I had two very close relatives that delivered papers for the OD and they were both treated like crap and the Circulation Managers would never support them. They soon quit!!!! With that kind of treatment and lack of support, it certainly wasn't worth getting up at 4 AM to deliver 80 papers by the mandatory time of 5 AM!

The Observer Dispatch rates among the elite of newspapers in circulation in the history of this nation. The Sunday paper alone has many dollars in coupons that far exceeds the cost of the paper. I pay $21.45 for the entire month for all 7 days of the week. It's one of the better values left in today's world.
Too bad we can't introduce you to the one Topix poster who thinks Time Warner Cable is the bargain of the century. The 2 of you would have a lot in common.

It DOES not rate among the elite papers. HOWEVER, you are right about the coupons. So, stop calling it a newspaper. its not. Its a coupon paper. They could fire almost everyone and reduce the price to a dollar and just sell the coupon pages. They would make more!!!!

This paper should be cheaper than the Pennysaver. There are eight pages of news and everything else is advertising. All of which has been paid for by the advertisers. There is not one good reason to raise the price, actually it should cost about a dollar. More people would buy it, and thus the advertisers would be happy to pay more.

There are many reasons to raise the price. Gasoline cost, cost of living increases for the pressmen that print it, tags and fees related to transportation, the increase of cost on rolls of paper for the press, electric rates to power the presses is going up, the price of ink is increasing, health premiums are increasing for the employees that do the printing, the cost of advertising increases annually, depreciation factor of all machines in the printing industry. This is just a few examples, I'm sure there's more.
Thanks, Donna!

We don't want people coming on here and making sense, we just want to badmouth everyone that is trying to do something good for this area. Got it?

Sure sounds like the same excuses they used a year ago to outsource and clean house. So that move only bought them a year? Wake-up OD, take a lesson from Hostess. Band aids don't work, throw in the towel, and shut it down.

This crap about how great it is sounds just like WKTV. "We are voted the best in the area". No idiots, you are the only competitiors.
