I feel bad for the children. However, why sue the city? There is no negligence on the citys part. It's because they think the city has deep pockets. Well I'm a tax payer and guess what, we don't have deep pockets nor can we afford to borrow anymore.

Should the mayor or chief of police went to his house and taken his cutlery away from him? What else should they have done? Taken any rope that he had in case there was a hanging? It's absolutely absurd. Shame on the Judge, procescuter and jury if they screw this one up.

Just because the children and wife our victims, don't make the tax payer a victim to. That is not justice.

I don't think this is really about the money. I think her family(sister ....) feels guilty that they didn't protect her. They have a need to throw the blame on someone else. I feel sorry for the Longo children they are being taught revenge vs LOVE. These children should be removed from their care.

If the knives could not be removed, with Joey' prior history such as the Proctor HS incident and the order of protection both Labella was more than familiar with intimately a mental health evaluation should have been ordered!

I think the city and the taxpayers should be held responsible for the failure of the thought police to read Joe's mind. Had the department been better equipped to monitor his every waking thought, this tragedy could have been presented. All kidding aside, isn't that really the logic the plaintiff's attorneys are implying from an Orwellian perspective? Is that where we are headed as a society? This is a very slippery slope. I hope a jury sees through this nonsense and tosses the case.

He was going to kill no matter what they took away from him. Anti-gun nuts who want to disarm America should see why making guns illegal doesn't work. Whack jobs like Longo will find a way to do away with someone, guns or no guns.

The police have an obligation to protect. If the police are made aware of an officer who is behaving inappropriately, ie. Longo at Proctor , and the order of protection, then the acting supervisor has a duty to make the department aware of one of its officers inappropriate behavior. The department has resources at it avail to have interceded on longo's behalf which subsequently could have spared many lives. The dept failed to act and rather attempted to minimize the entire Longo behavior. The City, Mayor and police chief should all be held accountable as painful and as costly as this may be. Maybe in the future responsible people will act properly and not Minimze the behavior of their police officers

Hey GOOF:
Even if they arrested him an put him in prison for two years, he still would have gotten out and cut her throat.

Explain using your 3 grade education, how they can stop anyone from doing anything GOOF.

Sterilize your welfare family, so obama doesn't have to feed them any longer.

Learn the truth the media doesn't want you to know about the recent Colorado school shooting because it doesn't fit their anti-gun agenda.

1.) The shooter was confronted by an armed adult in the school

2.) The shooter fled into a class room and killed him self in under 80 seconds

3.) The shooter had socialist rantings on his FaceBook Page

The media will discuss this no further!

The city did take action. Now the taxpayer is the victim to. Let's go for the deep pockets.

Oh, YES there is negligence on the city by the city and within the city! To start with, placing LaBella in as police chief was a conspiracy by Michael and Arcuri, David Roefaro for each had a vital role in eliminating Pylman from his position a police chief. According to Pylman he stated that Arcuri and Roefaro technically made life miserable and not one person wanted to hear his side. Remember, had Pylman not been pushed out by Roefaro and his tactics within the Utica Police Department and that union, the city wouldn't have had to pay for that breach of contract.

Once Pylman was gone do you not recall LaBella said he didn't want the job then all of a sudden did a sneak job by taking the civil service exam, the wrong exam and done so with the exploitation of sniffle-gate. Each member of the civil service employee responsible for allowing Mr. LaBella to take the wrong test, alone, members of the Utica Common Council and Dr. Fred Talarico, if Mr. Longo did this, Pylman would need to answer for this. What must now happen is an investigation into Longo's behavior when Pylman was chief, we need to know if Pylman ever reprimanded Mr. Longo.

One must look at the entire history of Pylman, Arcuri, Roefarol UPD and it's police union, let's not forget, that police department didn't want to tow the line and Pylman did call them a parade of malcontents!

That was a mockery they NEVER should have let that teacher leave the building as I read leaving the building the gunman would follow theory was bull. The gunman had no idea that teacher left the building thus kept the fool in the building armed and ready to blow. Each involved with allowing that teacher to leave should be fired. I would have forced that TEACHER right into the main office and demand that teacher to get on the intercom and talk to that student and coax that student down to the main office for if that teacher died, so be it for that teacher was marked and it was an issue between that student and that teacher.

I don't buy all the elements of that Colorado shooting and for ever to allow that teacher to leave while the rest become sitting ducks was a cowardly act that could have jeopardized more kids and faculty.

I ran that district, they would be fired!
