Define major success. That is not defined solely by "billionaire ballplayers."

There have been plenty of student athletes who have gone on to play D1 or D3. That they succeeded in getting out of the area to compete at that level is a success.

There have been plenty of student athletes who have learned valuable lessons through competing in HS athletics and later gone on to successful careers. That they have good job is a success.

There have been plenty of kids that just enjoyed their time as an athlete. That they weren't planted on the couch with a joint and a remote is a success.

...that you lacked talent or drive to succeed, is not an indication of anyone's failure but your own.

At the end of the day NH had a great basketball season and was the best team in the area that beat proctor twice . They won the league and lost to the defending state champs with some big time talent.
It was a great season. The kids have a lot to be proud of. That said, spare us the mom speak for everybody wins. Nobody cares that they lost to the defending champs. You are either section champs, or you are not.

There is no shame in doing your best and losing. It sucks. But losing isn't supposed to be fun. Stop trying to try to make it sound like it's normal to pretend that taking second is OK because you beat those clowns at proctor 2x, or because your opponent had "big time talent," or because, whatever other excuse you can come up with.

sports were better when losing taught you something other than how to find excuses for not winning.

Didn't say I played basketball....said I won section titles. multiple. you take a guess at which sport that was in the late 80's.

Anyway, I congratulated the kids for an accomplishment they should be proud of. I criticized the coach for being two faced and for telling kids not to play other sports. And I criticized you for your lame excuses. Specifically, how they set a bad example about sports and life, even if they make moms feel better about not winning.

Losing builds character and it forces you to work harder. Embrace it.

Call it cowardly if it makes you sleep better. I call it realism. If you don't want anonymous, don't come to topix. Or sign your name.

Now go back to zumba.

You parents from New Hartford , ny are ridculous!!. I currently live in Florida and yes were talking 8A schools and 7A schools.A lot bigger the New Hartford. Now woth that said, I do know of the Henderson twins. This is because I recruit for basketball at a university I will not discuss. Now first thing is first, You are not payong TAXES so your son can play basketball lets get that straight first of all. Its for the school. Not just your son. If he wasnt good enoug to make the team and has no future in basketball then either A. Don't play or B take him to a community center where he can play. Sorry but your a big enough school to realize well ok not everyone is gonna make the team. You didnt see michael jordan cry to the school board and topix when he didnt make the team. No he got better and look where that go him. Now back to the twins. Those two boys are tremendous kids. They are very smart and have a great family. They played ay waterville and did decent there. Now from what I have heard is that waterville Is a small school and deffinetly not compare to New Hartfords academics. So for two kids who excell at basketball are very smart want to have a better education and maybe go to a great college amd maybe play basketball on the way the shouldnt because your son can't play. Your town from what I see with these comments is a joke. This is reality. Your not the president. Your not the omega. If a child wants to excell and do better for himself by all means and by you wanting to take that away your pathetic and a worse parent.

Alright , people who know nothing about recruiting and college basketball should be on here talking about talent and D3 this and D 1 this. First of all NH didnt recruit the henderson twins. They chose to go there. Now nobone from Bishop Ludden is going D1 for basketball. D3 and maybe a lower end D2 school is about it. Therr are only a select few kids that go D1 from Syracusr and Utica area and most that do go to a weak / low D1 school. BUT THERR ARE INSTANCES WHERE A COUPLE WILL BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE TALENT AND ARE ON A NATIONAL LEVEL THROUGH AAU . For example: Pat moore went to colgate - great academic school, terrible D1 basketball school. Eric Ball- Bishop Luddens 1000 point scorer a few years back- went to Onondaga CC. His talent was better then any of the kids on the team this year. Jim Clifford- union. Pete Clark- Hccc Sean Burton- ithaca and many many more. Then you will have those kids that have national level talent and were on state powerhouse teams. Jamesville Dewitt for example. BRANDON Triche, Andy Rautins and Dajuan Coleman all went to Syracuse. Josh wright from Proctor went to Syracuse.Alshwayn Hymes went to Canisus. And theres a reason these kid did. Because if ya put those kids on the court with Bishop Luddens kids I saw today or NH they would embarrass them. Divison one kids on bishop Ludden ... haaaa that's hilarious!!!

Look, this is simple. Like I said, no reasonable person would criticize a kid or his family for doing what is best for them. That is exactly what happened here. And I commend the family for it.

That said, despite what NH mom wants to think, NH is not the only show in town. You could choose from a hand full of local schools to get a high quality education and play ball. Add these two kids to just about any local team and that school would be battling for a title.

So, to think that the pure as snow coach did not give it his all to lure in, or convince anyone, that NH had the most to offer, talking down other options,...well that is "totally absurd." The coach most certainly did, and he sacrificed a few relationships, and a bit of his credibility, for a title that he did not get.

Lastly, as far as the tax conversation goes. You are correct. Everyone pays and you are most certainly not paying for any guaranteed benefit. But outside of taxes bills, there have been kids that grew up in the district, that put the time in, that sacrificed, that did what the coach would ask,...say quit other efforts and worked year around to improve, only to learn the difficult lesson that in the end, all that means squat once a better option becomes available. You might believe that to be fine, given your college recruiting position, but this is high school athletics. There is no conference TV payday for winning a title. It is supposed to be about the kids and all that, not about the coach building some ego empire.

Before parents let their kids buy into all the coach-speak BS, and make personal decisions based on what the coach wants, they should think about that. Because right now more than a few of these coaches are self absorbed wannabes that troll the middle schools looking for the next class of kids that might help their careers.

...and Andy is as bad, or worse. Ask HP.
