And I couldn't care less whether there is milk on the shelves or not. I know enough not to drink it. Why don't you go enjoy a nice tall glass of chocolate flavored steroids, estrogen and antibiotics?
actually if you did some research you will find that almost all dairy farmers are born into the industry. Today's prices make it impossible for anyone to start a dairy farm. I have a 21 yr old that works for us and he wants to have a dairy farm some day, but its not even possible for him to do it. Way too much investment and no steady income to insure the mortgage gets payed. The only dairy's left are either family farms or older farmers. The average age of a dairy farmer in NY state is over 67 years old. And no young kid can get in without being born in to farming. Its going to get ugly....

No one ever is concerned where those tax dollars go though.
Did you fall off a watermelon truck? Humans need milk? If people want it so bad pay what it costs! I don't care if your digest has to stop eating cheerios every morning!

You're either ignorant to the facts, or you're a liar. I provided documented proof and you'll find more below. Both chemicals are still being used in the industry, as is estrogen. The FDA set up 'suggested guidelines'. Most of the large, corporate farms don't follow the guidelines, good for you and your co-op if you do.

Monsanto makes huge money selling these chemicals and they have an equally huge influence with their bankroll and their lobbyists. I'm well educated on the subject and care about what my family ingests. Canada, Japan, Australia,New Zealand and Europe have banned the chemicals after studies showed how sick they made the cows. But the FDA & USDA couldn't care less because Monsanto has them in their back pocket.

I'm self-employed too. If I hit a downturn, no one is there to help me and my family out. And, as someone who is self-employed, I can't even receive unemployment benefits.
Ok, you are self employed, but is your line of work dependent on the weather? And does your line of work provide food for the nation? I was under the impression that the reason the government provided subsidies to farmers was to help the people whose hard work is what is providing our food.

Just ignore the idiot.

You could tell from the minute the IDIOT posted humans don't need milk it was the dumbest fk on the earth.
Then it posts about beef, the authors theorized, more about beef, then more on beef, then diary fat, then one idiot gets cancer.

What you have is a loser that can use google, it can't do anything but use google. Very easy to test milk an prove it, but there is ZERO proof, just an IDIOT babbling. Now the IDIOT will google more with it's welfare PC.

What makes it so foolish ? Because some Yahoo hippie made a report on it in college ? Get off your dipshit train, people have been drinking milk from cows goats etc etc for eons. Mammals, including humans, produce milk to feed their young. They do not produce milk to feed other species. Would you drink gorilla milk? How about skunk milk? Maybe milk from a sloth? Talk about brainwashed...ever heard of the dairy council? It's a government agency formed to help dairy farmers stay in business by providing advertising to make you believe milk is good for you.

And look what milk and its added chemicals have done to deteriorate the brain you were born with. Your 6th grade insults and complete lack of grammatical skills show what a genius you're not. You might consider doing some research. You'll see I'm right.

Keep drinking milk. Pay the ridiculous prices. You're not helping dairy farmers, if that's what you're thinking.

And there are plenty of other foods that provide calcium and protein. But the estrogen, you can't get that from foods. So the milk will help your boobs get boobier and your kids will enter puberty earlier....Keep insulting me, doesn't change the simple facts.

If you'd like to engage in an intelligent debate, let me know.

Apparently you decided not to read the articles and just believe what you've been told. That's naive at best. What is the 'best free paperwork' you sent out today? Something that applies to this discussion? Please share.

But I know it's useless to try to have an intelligent conversation with someone who won't even look at the possibility that they're misinformed, or someone who can't spell or use proper punctuation.

'it financially viable to mass produce these products and still have them affordable' except it will soon cost $7 for a gallon of milk. Are you even thinking?

Anyway, thanks for your valuable input. I've provided links to studies, news reports, etc. You've provided your opinions, insults and difficult to read grammar. Good job in trying to make your argument.

So, Einstein, I take care of my family by running my own business, earning a decent paycheck and growing my own food. I'm not looking for hand-outs and I don't believe anyone else should either unless they are truly disabled and unable to work.
So owning your own business you put every job on the books and pay taxes on it? You aren't making the books look like you made less to save on taxes and or get a nice tax return? I didn't think so. Right there is your subsidy.

i read some of your links, the rbst articles were old articles. i know for a fact that 90% of the milk in the north east is bst free. as far as the high fat , anyone with a brain knows a high fat diet isnt good for you. you can still have dairy in moderation. i buy 1% milk,2% or no fat yogurt. whats the big deal. as far as antibiotics in feed, you need to go to the feed lots in the mid west for that crap. dairy cows cant be fed that stuff as it gets in to the milk. theres a long list of products that have to be prescribed by a vet to use on dairy cows. not any differant than a doctor giving you a prescription. the gmo is becoming a issue, as a couple of plants have inquired about a supply of milk from non gmo fed cows, but at this point its not available in the amounts this plant would need. idk if we will ever get away from gmo crops in this country. but again, its not a hugh issue here in ny. out west where they grow corn every year is where they need the gmo seed and crops.you more likley to find gmos in cereal or a processed food than in dairy products. gmo seed is not used as much in dairy farming as we rotate crops which eliminates a lot of problems.

Glad you took the time to read some of those articles. But you're still off base. Have you noticed the signs at the ends of corn rows around here in the summer time? They have codes on them. The codes tell what kinds of GMO corn is in that row.

I know for a fact that several farmers in the Valley use corn seed that is drought resistant and pest resistant. The pesticide built into the corn seeds by Monsanto actually causes the bugs' intestines to burst. The same farmers are spraying the corn if they think an infestation is coming. And have you heard of Round-up Ready corn and soy seeds? The seeds are modified to be resistant to Round-up, that stuff you spray in your driveway to kill weeds. This way the farmers can spray the entire field with Round-up to kill the weeds and not affect the corn.

That's the same corn being fed to local dairy cows. Those are the same cows that produce the milk that makes the cheese and ice-cream. Wal-Mart sold it for human consumption without any kind of labeling or warning. That's the same corn that's been banned in Australia, New Zealand, EU and several other countries.

What actually trickles down to your glass of milk is questionable. But add to it the cheese, the ice-cream, the cream in your coffee, the whipped cream on your ice-cream,the cream cheese on your bagel and it starts to add up.
