The people of utica voted for this nit wit and they got him, now they have to sit back and watch him loot what is left of Utica. This guy has been a bloodsucker for decades, all he cares about is taking care of family and friends, he will stick it to the taxpayers as long as he is in office.

I will cut my losses on the sale of my home and get out of here. This city is going down and anyone left will be taken down with it. Get out while you can still get 20k for your house or wait and get nothing and pay 5k a year in taxes.

It's ashame that the sinner feed their own in public safety with unsustainable lucrative contracts at the exspence of the 33% of taxpayers footing the bill and holding on to nothing. Residents and businesses will contnue to fold up and leave the area in this hopeless pit. No matter what growth Utica sees it just to little to late and with the downgrades because of Roefaro and his administration it's hopeless to undo the damage.

We need to all contact the state and complain and bring the corrupt to light. We can't just sit here and complain and hope something is going to change. Let the state take over and run the city and get it back. I may be dead by then but at least the kids may want to stay here if its cleaned up. Watch all the pubic servants squirm when the state looks into it.

I agree, if taxes go up again now than 2 percent. I'm selling my houses and moving out of this city. We pay more and get less. DPW is a joke they don't plow or salt , summertime the green waste is not picked up for 2-3 weeks. UFD is a bunch of leeches. UPD is a bunch of punks. The city is dirty.
UTICA — Utica’s next budget will be tough, the question is just how tough.
As Mayor Robert Palmieri, department heads, unions and the Common Council gear up for what is acknowledged as a potentially brutal and bruising budget, the city’s department heads’ estimates show that without some significant cutting, the city could face a double-digit tax increase.
The estimates were released to Common Council members Thursday, a step that has not been done in recent years.
This is just the starting point, but without any decreases from the estimates or an increase in revenue, the city would have a $67.1 million budget, an increase of $3.15 million, which works out to a property tax increase of 15.79 percent.

“We really won’t know until we have a budget in front of us,” said Councilman Frank Meola, D-at-large.“We have to see what’s cut, what’s increased. Hopefully, we can keep services at the level people are used to.”
Most of the city’s departments have requested a budget increase, many of them related to higher health care and pensions costs. Others are more wish-list ideas.
Some increases — such as health care and pension costs and contractually obligated salary increases — are unavoidable.
“These are what the departments feel they need to run their budget,” Budget Director Peter Fiorillo said.
Fiorillo did not have the exact amount the city’s revenue increased this year but said it was up, and that will help offset any potential tax increase.
As Mayor Robert Palmieri, department heads, unions and
