This is your latest excuse for no announcement.

Will the next one have to do with astrology or global warming?

"Abbotsford was unable to negotiate an agreement with the Canucks with terms that were satisfactory within the time constraints"

This would have been the agreement that would have let the Heat out of their current agreement.

Didn't you say at one point they were delaying the announcement because their season wasn't over? Their season ended 4 days ago and the only story in the news since then says there is no deal and the Heat are staying put.

What am I waiting for exactly? A statement from every person who has categorically denied a deal is in place? An announcement that there was some secret pot of money in the recently passed budget to pay for the Aud upgrades necessary to attract an AHL team?

What about the fact that you have been wrong about every other pronouncement you've made about an announcement and when it would come? Do you have an explanation? I mean you seemed quite adamant each time you came up with a new strory for why nothing was happening.

To be honest I was kind of looking forward to the day that one of our local representatives came out an announced that New York State taxpayers were footing the bill for part of this scheme at a time when the city can't even afford to pave the roads in accordance with existing law and the Utica City School District is cutting programs and letting teachers go. I still think only Brindisi would have been the only one clueless enough to believe that something like that would fly.

I care because of the public funding aspect of this. I pay taxes. I think this area has had more than its' fair share of broken promises presented in the guise of economic development. By and large most have failed to meet expectations or failed completely. I've mentione them before - Hotel Utica, The Stanley, The City Center, The now half vacant Utica National building.... Do I have to go on? They all cost money. Taxpayer money. High taxes driven by those costs are at the root of the New York being the #1 most business unfriendly state in the US.

The other part of it is that if there is a deal then that means that we've (the taxpayers) been lied to in a big way. I guess what you are suggesting is that it's ok for my representatives to not only use my tax dollars for something I wholeheartedly disagree with but to lie to me too?

You and others like you want it because you like hockey. I like hockey too but I don't for a minute expect my fellow taxpayers to pick up the tab for it. You like hockey? Then pay for it. Rob Esche et al want an AHL team in Utica? Let Rob Esche et al pay for it. All of it. If it's a viable business then they will prosper and good for them. If it's not viable then why on earth should taxpayers subsidize it? Subsidize it the way the city of Abbottsford taxpayers are subsidizing the Heat to the tune of millions of Canadian dollars every year.

That's why I care.

And if the leak didnt happen you wouldn't have heard anything about it. It's no ones business other than the partners and officials. It's not up for you to debate.

Oh, my! Crushing news. How will we be able to go on without an AHL team in Utica? Where will we be able to spend the money we won't waste watching a hockey team that would only screw us in the end? Oh, maybe we can spend that money at the new chain restaurant we don't need either?

Not up to me? No ones business but the officials?
This isn't China, Cuba or the former Soviet Union.
It's up to every taxpayer in the state of New York and that includes me. Whenever things like this come about most people don't track it back to the root. The root is that all this money comes from the taxpayers and it has to stop if New York is to ever make any kind of comeback.

The info leaked on or about Feb 24.
So that means that all of the supposition about why an announcement has been delayed is nothing but opinion.

Again, how do you explain all of the denials icluding the latest from the mayor of Abbotsford.

So how much say did you have in the negotiations with the city and bass pro shop to build a new store? How much say did you have in the incentives they received. Please stop with your feeling of self entitlement.
