Sadly, the shopping center has lost it's class through the years, and I personally feel that adding stores like "Ollies" and "Save A Lot" haven't helped, and the center is now at the lowest point ever.

It used to be the best center to shop with stores like "Steinbach, "Reid Sheldon," "Doyle Knower," and "Utica Leather" just to name a few. Two major grocery chains occupied each end of the main strip up to the mid 70's. Sangertown being built contributed to it's dowfall, but the mall now seems to be in just as bad shape!!

Your right and those were the good ole days. I remember Sears, Grants, Woolworths, Howlands and who could ever forget Fanny Farmers. Remember at Christmas Time how busy it would be with all the people walking to the stores.

Wicks and Greeman, The Hi Fi Shop, The Party Card Shop (now Colozzi's) Elite Beauty Shop, Hemstrought's (now Gingerbread Shop)Mungers (Howland/Steinbach) Roboman Carwash in back of Sears. The "mini mall" created after Grants closed. The old Marine Midland Bank. Sauter's Shoes.

Car dealerships had displays in the parking lot by Woolworths in the 1960's.

Before center court was created, there was a little store that sold and made keys next to Sears That area was used for all the Christmas Festivites, Santa Claus visits, etc.

Tell the younger people that Sears was there and they'd look at you funny.

Evey X-Mas we'd go see Santa at Sears on the side where the road was where Center court is now. and there was a key shop right there too.
was there a whale

I somehow remember this tractor trailer that was converted into an aquarium being at the shopping center with a whale in it back in the late 60s-early 70s

I was always facinated with the "Joanne's" or "Johann's" clothing store for children as a kid.
It wasn't too far from Woolworth's.I remember the store was shades of pink and blue and the huge boy and girl scouts supply aisle right in the middle of the store.

LOL..."pay toilets" in W.T Grants, and the big billing center in the back of Sears were the women were behind the counter like bank tellers. I always remember my mom paying the "Niagra Mohawk" bill there as well.

So many stores had "candy aisles," and Sears had a huge counter not too far from the billing center.

Sears had a little cafeteria too. And across from the entrance to the cafe is where I played my first video game....Pong!
