Symeon Sr. has remarried and moved to Cape Cod. Jr. is running the retaurant and it is a gold mine. This whole story is fiction.

I was there last week with a couple girlfriends. My meal was not hot, warm at best, and everything was so bland! We were all very surprised at how small the dinner portions were. What's happened to that place? Disappointed

Back in the day, my family and I used to eat at Symeon's at least twice a month. Although the service was never what I'd call great, the food was always quality, the restaurant was always clean. Never a problem, never a complaint. A lot of good times.

Before the fire, the quality of the food I think was suffering a bit. Maybe it was complacency, I don't know but it wasn't quite as good for some reason.

The restaurant was just like the old days when they reopened after the fire. Had a lot of good times there with friends and family again.

I haven't been back in years though. My last impression was that it was slipping back into bad habits a little bit. I was thinking of giving it another shot recently. I'm glad it's survived and I hope it's back to its great quality again.

the business has been there how long, years, but you hear commercials ever 5mins. ya think after all these years if the place was so great word of mouth would keep him from running so many commercials, wake up.

Yeah that makes sense? Are you kidding me. How many McDonald's, Chevy, ford, the list goes on and on commercials do you see a day? Those are well more established brads obviously.

When I see a business advertising to me it says they're thriving just from the simple fact they can afford to pay for all that advertising. And please don't tell me about word of mouth. I guarantee you'd be hard pressed to find a person in utica that hasn't heard of Symeons. Shit. People here from Albany travel there to eat.

If this place isn't doing well, why the hell are so many people parking in their lot all day and night?

Business is down 7% in the last 12 months and 19% in the past 2 years. A lot of the customers come alone so the parking lot looks full but the place is half empty. A reliable source says that the family has had it with all the rude customers and wants to get out of the restaurant business. Believe me, this is all very true.

Well yesterday I emailed his middle son who is in turkey after seeing this ridiculous thread and the family has zero plans to sell the restaurant. His response, and I quote..."LOL"!

Jr seems to be living the life of luxury these days at a young age. Can't say that I blame him. I'm just puzzled as to how you can be an owner and be somewhat absent. Especially in that business. I realize he's probably got some good help, but that's not cheap. I don't know too many other restaurant owners who have this luxury especially in our depressed economy is obvious. So, if there's any validity to this rumor, it comes as no surprise.

A lot of customers come alone and that's why there are so many cars? You are a moron. The parking is full all day every day. Business is booming.

The staff at Symeons is VERY well compensated. Also SJ spends quite a bit of time at the restaurant. The youngest son just opened this place a couple years ago in New Hampshire. I've been twice. It's pretty much Symeons! Lol. Very good!
