Yub, Time to cut the NH Library budget. If Waterville can do it, NH can.
No way. We need to ramp it up. We are New Hartford. We need to set the bar for the underachievers throughout Utica. Give them something to look up to.

Valet parking, free first run movies, a free snack table, a freakin' observatory with a bigger telescope, free t-shirts (with Linda's picture) and washroom attendants.

You're headed in the wrong direction. Spend.

I can confirm that Waterville Library has an excellent magazine selection.

Took the kids yesterday, they really enjoyed it. Liked it much better than NH Library. Looks like we will be going back.

You nailed this one. I 100% agree.

Great to hear! The Waterville Library sets the standard for the Mohawk Valley.

It eats NH Library's lunch. Unfortunately, our local Sunoco station offers more. I do miss the magazines.

I have an idea, everyone could donate their magazines to the library monthly after done reading them. This way the library can fill their shelves for free. We should all start bringing them magazines so they can get through these hard times...

Can we turn this building into a Tim Hortons or something functional? The NH Library is a waste in its current form.

I'm totally against the lifesize statue of Linda that is rumored to being going up in October.

NH Lib needs more pictures of the Romano family, and more cameras. What a joke.

Great idea. I'll gather up some of mine. The pages in some of mine may be stuck together, but they're still serviceable. I have a ton of old Maxims and Hustlers.

Is it a tax write off? Can they dedicate a shelf to me? I have to go at an off time when there are no kids, cause of the court order.

The Wateville Library is the standard: New comfortable building, lots of books, lots of magazines, Astronomical Observatory, solar power arrays and non of NH's drama or incompetence.

Let's see OD reporter Sara Tracy do an article on the empty magazine racks at the NH Library.

Took our kids there and encountered a very rude library employee. Plus the library is really crappy. They were disappointed.

You are not the first to report van experience like that at the NH library. The NH library employees have been surly and sullen ever since NH voters rejected Linda Romano's million dollar budget.

For one, I would like everyone to know that Mr. Eugene Romano has done, and continues to do, much to support veterans in this community.
Whatever goes on at the NH library has nothing to do with, and should not detract from, the generosity of Mr. Romano.

I agree with you. Eugene Romano is a great guy, and has done a ton of stuff for the community. Its his kids that I am disgusted with. In fact, he's probably disgusted with them too. What a couple of reprobates.

I second that. Linda and John are annoying, loudmouthed adult children.

It doesn't matter how great a guy Eugene Romano he is. His daughter Linda is running down the New Hartford Library through her incompetence and indifference. The only reason the Town Board hasn't asked for her resignation is because she hides behind the Romano name.

Can anyone name one positive thing she has done for the New Hartford Library that would justify her continuing in office as Library Trustee President?

Linda Romano's accomplishments so far:

-Knowingly submitted a grossly overblown $1,000,000 budget to the people of of New Hartford that would have resulted in yet another tax increase. Result: rejected by voters of New Hartford. FAIL

- Threatened the people of New Hartford with draconian cuts to library hours and services if they dared to reject her million dollar budget. Result: FAIL

- Allowed then Library Director Hans Plembeck to submit a falsified required document to the NY State Government. Result: FAIL

- Allowed then Director to knowingly use the library's security cameras to spy on library patrons. Result: FAIL

- Encouraged discord among Library Trustees by encouraging them to turn on two of their own. Result: FAIL

- Actively encouraged resigning Library Trustees to publicly blame fellow Trustee Ed Wiatr for their resignations. Result FAIL

- Support Library Employee Roy Senn to use the NH Library name and image in his blog to criticize Donna Donovan, the Observer Dispatch, Library Trustee Ed Wiatr, NH Town Councilman Don Backman, Town Supervisor Pat Tyksinksi and numerous Town residents who were perceived not to support the NH Library enough

- Encouraged Library Employee Roy Senn to use his Library Tortoise blog to actively campaign against Town Supervisor Pat Tyksisnki's reelection campaign as well as Town Councilman Don Backman's election campaign. Result: FAIL

- Gave away $16,000 in taxpayer money as a retirement gift to former Director Hans Plembeck all the while admitting giving him the money was against NH Library Policy. Result FAIL

- After giving away $16,000 in taxpayer money to a former library employee Romano has the audacity to cry poverty that she doesn't have enough money to run her library. Result FAIL

- Voted for the Library to continue to post over 64 grotesque signs all over the library's magazine racks in order to guilt NH residents into supporting a massive library budget increase. Result: The Library's magazine racks look like trash and it has made the NH Library the laughing stock of the Mohawk Valley. FAIL

- Ineptly manages the Library budget. Result: Library under performs in providing quality service at a reasonable cost. Also, Linda's Library is outclassed by other local Libraries like Waterville that do much more with less money (Observatory, Solar arrays, full magazine racks). FAIL

So why is Linda Romano allowed to continue as Library Trustee President? What has she done right?

I love the links page on the NH Library page:

http://www.newhartfordpubliclibrary.org/local...

They have links to schools in the area but do not include the New Hartford School district. They do however have Notre Dame High School listed. Go figure...
