They don't keep inventory of their vehicles. Such a simple concept, but instead you have to make the drive and possibly waste your time.

If a bolt or something is frozen, they won't take a single minute to cut it with their torches. Absolutely no help from them.

You are also not allowed to take torches into the yard. yeah I know about liability, but there's other ways to kill yourself in the yard.

I suppose if you need a mirror or alternator they're a good source, but lots of luck pulling engines or axles with your craftsman tool kit.

They are of no help.

Sorry I made this post, I'm a loser in life and it makes me feel better about myself. I just masturbated so I'm ready for a nap. Night night all.

Lol my comment was to the point. Why bother with junk when you can lease or buy with a warranty. I do have a plow truck and have found alot of parts at vinnys. But.. If I had to go there to pull a motor for my main car forget it! Not worth my time...

I agree with LMAO. Vince's is exactly what it's supposed to be. It's not meant for pulling engines and the like, but just individual parts, and not all parts will be able to be pulled. Majority of u-pull-it yards at that way, and the corners they cut by not wasting time on inventory, etc, is what allows them to keep the costs to low and not pay liability, etc...

So why can't you bring torches in the yard?

I guess they're afraid of you setting a car on fire, but it's just assinine to think you're going to pull an engine or tranny (which they routinely advertise) without using a fire wrench.

Why don't you actually go to the dealer and get your car fixed like a normal person instead of rolling around in the mud for hours trying to get a car part for a few bucks?

I have seen them help with pulling motors. They have the forklift person full it out with a chain and even drive it over to where you want it.

Always been reasonable to me, they have about the most liberal rules of any yard I go to. I cut the entire body off one car in there, and cut tons of parts off a couple others. If a bolt is frozen, you just put a big breaker bar on there and twist until it turns or breaks off. Or use a nut splitter or chisel on it. Or, worst case, maybe take off whatever the part is attached to, too, and take it apart and home, then return what you don't need. I did that at Pick 'n' Pull a few years ago to get a set of Buick aluminum drums.

I guess some folks just can't understand the concept of fixing your own vehicle instead of paying someone else at a shop $75-$100 per hour to do it. Or, God forbid, actually building your own car. Lease a new car, that's throwing money away, the absolute worst deal you can make on a car. At the end of the lease you can buy it for more than it's worth, or pay extra if you put too many miles on it? Crazy.

The last motor I pulled I didn't need a torch, either, just hand tools will do it. Exhaust manifold studs usually will snap off, two bolts in the front, one under the trans, the rest is linkage, lines and wiring.

If you can't make sense of Vince's U Pull, it is your problem not theirs. They have better prices than the majority of the yards out there and they keep them low by NOT doing what all the other yards do. If you can't handle walking the yard you shouldn't be bothering anyway.

Theyve always been just exactly what they said they are. If youre too lazy, incompetent, or prissy to do it yourself, dont go there. seems easy enough.

There is a simple and valid reason behind no torches in the yard. It's an insurance liability. The concern is that someone will cause an accident resulting in injury to themselves or others. If that happens Vince's is liable, not the customer and they rightly don't want to have to pay high premiums because of it. Further, half the idiots running around out there with oxygen acetylene combos or MAP systems usually don't really know how to use them safely. When someone calls a welding/cutting system a "fire wrench" odds are they know just enough to get themselves or someone else hurt and not much more.
