This still doesn't answer the question; Why do they dress like teenagers?

Maybe they're content with themselves, or showing support for the hard knock life. I don't fucking know. It has nothing to do with money, NOTHING. b/c even celebs wear baseball caps with the tag on it or a shirt buttoned to the top choking themselves. Most recently I saw Rob Kardashain on TV dressing like a 12 year old & thats why I came to this forum. It's not money, it's shitty taste no style & CLEEEEEARLY no originality.

I think it would be interesting if a generation came along where dressing up in a tie became cool. "Hey dawg you got that bubble gum kush yet?" "Hell no, I dropped 8 bones on this tie and these Jordans beeyotch, maybe next time."

Hey if your reading this, thanks. I want to get to the bottom of this important topic. Please post your opinion. It's simple, you dont need to register just type and submit. Please don't ignore the question that brought us ALL here. Whats the deal?

That's not even funny. There is NO shock value to your comment. You obviously saw some1 who dressed like shit & then you typed the question into your search field. So why would you go off topic immediately? Instead of adding to the conversation & tell us what you saw.

I think blacks (and I'm one) take offense and get defensive about the wrong things. This IS a major issue/topic. Maybe if our neighborhoods, education, career rates, public morals, crime rate, etc were up maybe we could use the whole free country thing and make excuses. But they're not. Many blacks act like animals and that's how we're seen. Many blacks also love to perpetuate (and find pridethe stereotype of being loud, abrasive, violent.

I say that not to insult but to encourage. If we truly DO come from kings and queens, why do we act this way. And please don't use the "I'm not an animal/I don't act that way" reply. I'm not saying any individual person does. But many of us do. People always say "White people do this too...White people that too." Well white people run the world so THEY can afford to act crazy at present. We don't so we have to do our utmost to show how respectable we are. Black men DO need to dress like men and not their 16 year old sons. It IS embarrassing and just helps the stereotype that black men are infantile.

Style is in the eye of the beholder. Black men spend a great deal of money on their casual looking, yet detailed appearance. Many men even dry clean those throwback jerseys.
The look is original and opposite to the white status quo. Simple and opposing.

I actually think this is a interesting question. And as to why older black men or even ladies still dress in "top 40" clothes- I think the cultural pressure to do so is just a little overwhelming. You notice how even older ladies are trying to cram themselves into skinny jeans? I remember when I was younger and dressed in fashion and how my parents would always chime in with something like "So I guess this is in style, huh?" In a tongue in cheek way I think they were explaining to me that my appearance was kind of a fad and that one day they hoped that I'd outgrow it. I did. Some people don't.

People in american culture (probably elsewhere too) have this belief that what you wear is an expression of /you/. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't, but maybe older black men and women still hang out to that idea, and dress a way that our (american) culture expects them too.

I realize that it's a free country and people can dress however they want, but adult men should make an effort to look nice - especially during the week. People who dress nice are more pleasant to be around. I don't like walking into a supermarket and not being able to tell the adults apart from the kids.
I think people that are not racist are more pleasant to be around.
