All the people from high school that you never wanted to see again. Its a complete joke. And a waste of taxpayer money which could be better spent cleaning up this city for real. Not for a phony couple hours.

It IS a waste of taxpayer money when you factor in all the cleanup needed the extra police coverage etc etc. Oh well. as long as theres dopes willing to run in it, it will continue to be a scourge on the city.

Where does all the money go that they take in for this event? This has been going on for 35 years and I have never heard of any accounting of the funds?

<quoted text>OH NOOOOOO! They didn't just use the 1st line of defense for Stupid uticans did they? Who's jealous of that we went and saw the Macys (worlds largest) fireworks from my family's large boat right on the Hudson, ate dinner with a 2 (I say) minor film/tv talents you'd never see in utica, and went to see Roger Waters do The Wall in Yankee Stadium on Friday in a rewired 40 million dollar production. Sat we went to my brothers who does fireworks professionally in 3 states and set off all the leftovers until the dogs ran off and our ears were bleeding and came home and slept till 11am while you jokers were running through a dilapidated rust belt city for free ratpiss beer and a sweaty mob scene at a leech event today and watched for your "airshow" of 1 plane none of you could identify or even see for that matter. Get over yourself and your stupid moronthon utica. REAAAAALLLLY!! Just like everything

else "utica" it's actually for the benefit of a poor few, and well WELL overrated and overwrought

for what it actually is. A bunch of fat out of shape upstate retards making themselves feel all

"sporty" in a wheelchair gimp sport to begin with and leeching free beer and cheap chinese

plastic goodyshyt in a bag. That's one notch above a salvation army bake sale to me!

Oh yes we are soOOOOOOooo green with envy you petty fkn easily impressed assholes would mistake me for the Incredible Hulk I bet! The pathetic and weak denials and ways they TRY to deny it are so revealing about these utica people's egos and self image. Paper thin just like their
existence up here. God GO HOME whiners.
Hey hulk can I get a body like that if I sleep 'til 11?

i ran the boilermaker the first 10 years. then it turned into a parody of itself. most of the people running couldn't run a real race if their life depended on it. the person that said everyone is overweight is right. except for the foreigners in the front. became way too much of a circus with the brewery nonsense afterward and the 24/7 news coverage. no thanks.

It is rather funny to see thousands who cannot run run in a race. What is the point?

It is over, let's put the stupid race to sleep. I am so sick of hearing about it. In 10 yrs. all the runners are going to need knee or hip replacements.

We came in for our first boilermaker! We had a wonderful time! I can't believe people would bash the handicapp and overweight people on trying to accomplish a goal. You people are really pathetic. I've run many races and with people of all races , weights and challenges. The crowd was awesome and very upbeat. Thanks Utica well be back to run your race!
I'm glad that you and your family had a good time. I must apologize for my fellow Uticans. they have a terrible habit of seeing the negative side of everything. These clowns don't speek for the majority of us. The Boilermaker is a great event. And people should be congratulated for participating.

lady if you really are from vermont, you don't live with this stupid event shoved in your face 365 days a year. maybe if you did, you would be as negative about it as we all are.

I don't mind the race itself. It's the lead-up to it that is beyond unbearable. Do we need to see 1 hour of the evening news each night devoted to the Boilermaker? Do we need to read articles about it in the OD in December? If Utica had other things going for it, this race would not be such a big deal.

Maybe if you idiots got out and ran and did something besides post jibberish on topix you wouldnt be jelous..Seriously get a life. You dont like utica then move.. bye.. dont let the door hit you in the ass.. The boilermaker is one of the few positives things about utica and you have to bash it. get a life..and besides it only goes on one day a year and the local businesses profit the most from the event.

If it only goes on for one day a yr. then why do we have to listen about for 365 days/yr.

Runners are in notoriously bad shape. Unless you're Ethiopian. But the average runner in the Boilermaker is 20-30lbs overweight, smokes, and drinks like a fish. Then they run one race a year and think it qualifies them for the Olympics.

I am not jealous of runners. I exercise in a number of ways, but my knees cannot sustain the abuse that running creates.

Here there would be lots of smiles and faces at a cornhill pig roast big deal? What's that doing for anybody? I got dragged there it was a little greasy looking but hey I guess it just represents the healthier cross section of town what do I know?
Agreed it is nice to see people happy but a little alarming to see some of the people get all worked up and start treating this like the 2012 Moon Landing and the olympics are in ut this summer. If it makes them happy and makes for a day out looking around ut that's enough of a reason to be happy for them. I don't know that it's a "great race" but as long as most of the bills get paid and
