You are correct. Expenses have been an issue for a long time. Consultants were hired years ago and their recs were that the company organization needed to be flattened. That means there was too much management compared to the workers. So they eliminated some management positions but created new management jobs for the "friends". The end result was zero impact. We are now coming up on the "Holiday Gift" season. The gifts to the workers has not been increased since at least 1970 when $100.(the top amount for 25 year workers) was a weeks salary for most. But managment gets a HUGE bonus earned on the backs of their staff. First class travel, expense accounts, and bonuses will never be eliminated for management to bring expenses under control. They will just keep doing thing like eliminating coffee breaks and cafeteria food and good health insurance.

Worked in the IVORY tower for 15 years as a business analyst. HR called us in this afternoon and advised us our department is being eliminated and our position will be terminated. They put a spin on it, but the bottom line is we are being let go. The good news from HR is that their will be handful of positions opening and we can reapply. Another words, they will only be able to hire about 10% of the worker that were let go. Obviously, the positions will be at half pay and with less benefits. I guess they will pick and chose through 35-40 employees for this. I really feel bad for some of my comrades who have families. I will not be applying for those handful of positions. It lucky my wife has an excellent job and i could go work for my family. Utica National is not a place to work for, poor management, results of the company are poor, they are unethical and they treat the employees like dirt. So happy to be out of there.

This place sounds incredible. Does the management of that place realize that corporate has been ABANDONING outsourcing because the savings are illusory? The poor quality overseas outweighs any cost savings from salary cuts, or so the rest of the American business community has learned. Good grief.

What did you actually do there as an analyst?! The products are average, there are too many programs that are outdated and not streamlined! They shouldn't have had 40 analysts on the payroll to begin with!

I've developed and implemented programs with better results by myself!

Everyone blames management when employees actually contributed equally into this mess. Soon all the lifers will realize that it's not 1990 anymore and change needs to happen! It's going to be a tough road to recovery. There is going to be a lot of change and it is much needed! If you don't want to change then there's the door!!

It most certainly IS Managements fault 100%! They have allowed all of it! What is Management for then? Oh yeah, just sit there and collect fat paychecks and bonuses?

Why don't you go write them a program and then they can get rid of all their IT deptartment who obviously don't know what they are doing? You could be the one who saves the company! You would fit in since you obviously like to toot your own horn

What was done there as an analyst is what we were told. We didn't give ourselves that title, it was created, it posted as a position, it was applied for and unfortunately, I was given that postion. Although I liked what a did, I haden't a clue the full scope of the job. No training, no nothing. NOW, they want to disect the position I was currently working to make it inot 'useer' departments?! Well what an epiphany! So yeah, I guess it sounds like we equally contributed to this mess, by doing what we were told. Change, I welcome change, I worked my hardest, did my best for change. So take your anal comments and stick 'em! You should be ashamed of yourself.
