Has un tested their employees yet? Don't bother, save the expense. From working here, I can tell you the iq score is in the retarded range. This score wouldn't include management. This place is fubar'd.

Sad thing is, there are no potential buyers for this trash hwap of a company. You would think another player might buy it all for the few gems, and just axe the rest of it. THERE ARE NO GEMS at UN. There is simply nothing left to intice a buyer.

That said, the tricks are running out, and nothing can hide the joke-level leadership and perfromance at UN. Investment income isnt even enough to put lipstick on the UN pig anymore.

What's ahead:

1. Layoffs disguised as petformance-based firings;

2. Successive ratings cuts from all agencies as the company's performance continues to "flounder;" and,

3. Maybe gone entirely in 3-6 years. Swept up in the dustbin of history.

How long until UN slips into non-investment a.k.a. junk status with A.M. Best?

I'm sure Mr. Robinson knows this, but that would be a B/bb+ rating.

My first post so I am not "back" maybe if people stopped complaining and got to work things would be better. There are alot of good people at UN...those who complain should quit. Its called employment at will. I have seen some of the laziest workers at UN that don't understand business. Move on.

Rah Rah. the cheerleader is back.......let me guess you ended up with a cake job, and how is it ended up with that job anyway....place would

What are the executives afraid of???? Time for a union when your constitutional rights are being violated. Time to get a lawyer for a class action suit.

Just another employee here but words to the wise, Freedom of speech only extends to your right to SAY the things you want to say. It does not necessarily protect you from the repercussions of saying them (you cannot shout FIRE! in a movie theater unless, you know, there is one). In this case, Utica National is entitled to protect their own interests. If an employee divulges company information that negatively effects the company, they are entitled to take action.

Utica national must be worried about giving secrets out on this system. Their clcs product runs off duck creek technology. An Onbase system-Thats used to log in all their renewals and new business. Predictive analytics-crystal ball that predicts how an account turns out for profitability purposes. Lotus notes for e-mail. Excel spreadsheets. I believe they still run some software of compro. And their claim system is top notch. I hope no other company wants these secrets...

Words of advice, there are so much other jobs that pay so much more and places that actually respect your employees. Utica National is a shit hole.

you think so, ask Marc Chilton how many jobs are out there. He had to take a job at half what he was making at UN and he is happy to get it, granite it, once they figure him out, he is gone

Utica National should be a bit more careful in running older employees out of there, especially when they've had good performance revues over the years. You can't simply shit can people because they're older and making too much money. Age discrimination is no more legal than racial discrimination. Obviously the people who've they've "downsized" don't realize they have a ready made lawsuit.

Here is the scoop in the SE Region. We have had such bad management for so many years, that there may be no way to dig out. Getting new business to us is a function of marketing working with agents to promote our company and our products.Most of our agents think the marketing department is a joke and willingly tell us how bad they are. When we had a local Mgr, we repeatedly lost money and missed all of our goals. What happens to that Mgr ? Like most upper Mgmt employees, After several demotions, he was made a Marketing Rep. Good thing we still have the ever cheerful Mr. Sobolick to run the office. The lack of "quality" new business is terrifying. We have sent the school business packing because of one shock loss and we have priced ourselves out of most other "target" markets. Now it seems we want to rely on small accounts that no other companies want. Does Mgmt really think we can make money writing $1500-$2000 accounts ? If all our business is flow business, there will be no need for line underwriters or loss control staff in the near future and maybe that is what the Ivory Tower crew wants. If Mr. Doug is still listening, he needs to make some changes quickly, or there will be no company to run.

Its the same for maro and rfi. No need to try and write package accounts. You have to refer every goddam account. Dealing with cheryl d or bob m is like committing suicide. Make sure you trust the model...
