None! It's run by backward redneck conservative crusty old white men. That's doesn't represent their customers? Or USA population....

Therefore, if you are given a poor review, put on the famous utica national action plan, and your peers are avoiding u like the black plague get ready to be let go or terminated. No worries. I hear they are hiring at the new stewarts and soon nano chip plant. The good news you will be set free from uterus national.

Since the company is doing so poorly that they need to release a significant number of the work force, how about senior management takes a pay cut. They are the proximate cause of the problems. This place needs a competent Board of Directors not a bunch of yes men.

Lol. These topix names are hilarious. I left utica national several years ago. I left mainly due to the management and the direction the company was heading. Obviously, nothing has changed. Sounds even worse now. I currently hold a high level management position in another insurance company. I can tell you that the management at utica national is the bottom of the pit. There is no other way to sum it up. It sounds like utica may be in a spiral down hill that they may not get out of. I wish the best to the employees who will have to bear the blunt to the many mistakes that management has made.

Utica National is giving agents bonuses. One agent got over $600,000. Here's an idea. Why not give the actual employees bonuses for doing all the work for you. Agents just introduce the business to the customer. It's the Utica National employees that do all the hard work. So instead of doing the merit bonus which is hardly a bonus, give back to the employees and screw the agents. Agents are constantly the number one priority and the employees are never treated fairly. Or even better, since your quarterly report stated you want to keep expenses low, don't give agencies such high bonuses. My god this company won't last over 101 years. You're gonna see A LOT of people quit and retire after the 100 years. Myself being one of them. I've been here many years and I've seen the horrors and the shady business tactics and it's awful. Never work for this company unless you're an executive where you're catered to 24/7 and the rules don't apply to you.

Top managment are ex agents and marketing people. Sales is all they know. They need to learn about insurance and finance and of course how to deal with people. Add to that that they are not too smart but think they know everything. It is looking pretty black.

I find it so interesting that no one has mentioned how all of the former business analysts were reassigned after the dramatic postings from them, in November. Where did they all go? We have the "underwriting analysts" who haven't lost any of their pay or pay levels and were reassigned to their HOUND counterparts area. The "services analysts" were assigned as either "product processing analysts" or "rate file analysts" not losing any of their pay or levels. And you have the Help Desk team (unsure of their titles) again not losing any pay or levels. I believe the Claims BAs all faired well and none of them lost their jobs or levels, as well as Personal Lines, although one person did lose their job. Unfortunately this is the same person who was eliminated 2 or 3 other times, no offense, but there may be a job performance issue for this person if they have been the victim of a layoff that many times. The rest of the groups were hired as IT BAs and most were promotions. So, again my question -- where are the "victims" that ripped apart the company for this reorganization only to be kept on and didn't lose a thing??? Don't burn bridges people. The company may not be flourishing however they are doing well enough that we are hitting sales goals, we are still receiving benefits (most with pensions), we still receive merit increases (if we are working hard), we still receive 401k matches (maybe not 100%). Everyone on here sounds like a bunch of babies. Go get another job if you hate it so much, or shut up and try being a loyal employee for once. Maybe management isn't as loyal but in the end, they have to watch the bottom line. You may not like how they are going about it, hell I don't even agree with it all, but I'm not part of the management team! Get a grip and move on, people!

Merit match? Yeah after taxes I barely saw mine. 401k match? 4 percent and if you have a 401 k you're probably costing the company money and you'll be next to get fired. Get real the benefits here suck. I wouldn't wipe my ass with the benefits here

Very well said!! This post has the same losers posting things over and over again using different names. It would be nice if they just got a different job if they believe the grass is greener on the other side. Many companies are cutting back on benefits as well as laying off employees during these difficult times. Utica National has over 1000 employees and the majority are satisfied with their jobs. I know they are working on getting the names of the people posting these remarks exposed. It would be great to get rid of them so the company can move in a positive manner.
