They do check the rotors and drums. Talk about spreading false information.

Wrong again. Ball joints are inspected as they are part of the suspension and steering system.
The valid inspection sticker is no longer valid once the vehicle fails. The results are always entered and submitted the DMV on the computer so they know the vehicle has failed.
You need to go back to the DMV website and read it again. You may have a comprehension problem.

No comprehension problems at all. Have friends that have been licensed vehicle inspectors for years. I'll trust they know what they are talking about rather than trolls on Topix who don't understand what they are reading on the DMV site.

Can't tell you how much we appreciate the little pictures and safety tips site, did you get that from romper room or barney, mommy and daddy must be so proud.

Why don't you copy and post what I said about not checking anything.

What your saying is that out of ten thousands mechanics, then check the breaks and can fail it because they feel it doesn't have a pretty blue color. What does checking it have to do with what it can be failed for. They smell it, and say it smells bad, I'll fail it. You post are useless in the real world and don't say jack.

Get off your fifty dollar computer, that you also know zero about and stick with playing with a cell phone, your speed is about calling price chopper and asking if they have pigs feet, then you ask where they get shoes for them.

Maybe because you posted the little barney pictures of cars mommy will get you a new helmet for your birthday.

Besides the fact that if you bothered to actually look at the link, it is from the NYS DMV. My posts are actually factual. Can't say the same of yours. Seems your IP changes daily. Yesterday it was Chicago, today it is California.

In case you missed it, the link is DMV.NY.GOV

In case you can't comprehend, that means Department of Motor Vehicles, New York State and a .gov website is an official government website address.

Oops. I think the wheels just fell off your little red Radio Flyer wagon!!!

Funny, yesterday you posted that link while you were masking your IP with a Chicago, IL location. But if you bothered to scroll down halfway down the page, you would have found the exact link I posted last night http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm that you've made a mockery of.

then there is you today, yet again masking your location with a Los Angeles, CA IP. Troll much?

If the sticker is expired the first thing when the vehicle get in the shop is to remove the sticker than do the inspection. If the sticker is still valid it can't be removed till it passes or expires

Yeah except I said IP location not address. Perhaps you should take your trolling advice and learn to read next time.

It can be removed if it fails. Valid stickers are no longer valid if the vehicle fails. Those results are transmitted to the DMV and the previous inspection status is no longer vaild. How can anyone believe that if a vehicle fails inspection that anyone would leave a passing sticker on the vehicle? They can't.

I own a garage and do inspections everyday sticker only comes off if it is expired. Ball joints are not part of inspection as dumb as it sounds. They should be that's nys for you even though they are not part of inspection and are bad it can be failed for being g visually out of alignment or excessive wheel play. If how would like you can confirm this at NYS vehicle safety on south St in utica. Ask for Dave Scott or Doug Hight

Just call the DMV and ask them. If a vehicle is presented for inspection with a current and valid sticker, you will be told that the valid sticker stays on the vehicle even if it fails the inspection. A valid sticker cannot be removed until the vehicle passes inspection and will then be replaced with a new one. If the vehicle is presented for inspection with an expired sticker, it must be removed before it is inspected.

Except I've already been through this with the DMV and they verified that once the vehicle fails, the old current sticker is removed because the vehicle is no longer in passing condition. This is commonsense here. That is the whole point of a safety inspection, to make sure the vehicle is safe, and if it is not, off goes the sticker.

IP, or no IP address, it's my first time on this forum, and I can confirm the inspection scam. I went to the Monro in Newington, NH for an inspection, and quoted over $1200 worth of repairs I needed done. Took my car somewhere else, and it passed with just a $150 repair.
But that is not all. I'm actually glad they tried to scam me, because I also asked Monro to try and figure out why my car smelled like gas. They told me I needed to have the fuel cap replaced. There was no leak, they couldn't see anything anywhere. Indeed, they reminded me they had replaced all the fuel lines three months prior (as well as all the break lines) for a measly $1400! So I drove off, went straight to a little local garage where they did the inspection, told me of that $150 repair mentioned above, and also that there was a fuel leak, the line was covered in gas. I was told that anyway, my lines had to be replaced because they were rusted. Those same lines I paid an arm and a leg to have replaced three months prior. Bottom line, I drove thousands of miles with a gas leak, putting my family's lives in danger. And had I not checked elsewhere, I would still be driving with the leak since the mechanic had the nerves to tell me he was sure there was no leak and the lines were new.
Now you call it whatever you want, I call them crooks and liars. I've read so many horror stories, it's not even funny. If you don't believe the people who post on these boards, check out the Better Business Bureau, where they have a failing F with 944 case that were opened within the last three years. Just saying...STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!!!
And by the way, I will post this message in as many forums as I can to let the World know they should avoid them at all cost!

If you're interested in sharing your Monro nightmare with more people, you can do so here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Monro-Muffler-S... #!/pages/Monro-Muffler-Stinks/ 183379471741488

Monroe Muffler places all over have a bad reputation. Can't understand how any of them stay in business. Perhaps it is because they keep finding new customers to fleece who are unaware of their scams.

I went there before only to get them to give me a list of possible problems then I take it to a local guy to double check issues. Always they try to schedule an appt and try not to take no for an answer. I just tell them I have no money on me now and that I am not sure when I can come back. I even sometimes would just schedule an appt and never show up for it to get them off my back.

I went there for an inspection one year and it passed and then the next they hit me with 2 grand worth of repairs. The vehicle did not even have an issue with it for me to even bring up since it drove perfect. I too went to another shop locally and it passed fine so screw them from now on, but you can have them look and take the print out with you of problems. I had stuff on my list that my local mechanic didn't even know what it was they were putting down for repairs...was very odd.

Expect every time you bring it there to be shelling out hundreds min.

Heard a horror story from a friend who went there right after the place opened years ago. They told him his car needed HUNDREDS of dollars of work to fix noisy exhaust system. He went to Cole Muffler instead and it turned out to need a 75 cent clamp!!! I've advised dozens of people to avoid Munroe over the years. Cole Muffler has always been very good, at least before they were sold and merged with Mavis. I have had limited dealings with them since. TP Muffler is excellent as well. Avoid the 3 Ms Munro, Midas, Meineke.
