What's even more comical is they seem to contradict themselves in a lot of debate. Just a quick example they say things like "the comets bring people and teams to utica and they stay in the hotels" and then the other side they argue that utica is very convenient for the league because of the quick bus trips. Well you can't have it both ways. I really would like to see how many teams actually stayed overnight in utica and how many rooms were sold to out of town fans. I bet the number would be shockingly low.

<quoted text> hate to tell you this but there are about 3 ahl teams that own their building.... You really need a dose of reality.......pretty much going to be the same for minor league baseball. And in fact two of the 3 ahl teams were purchased to fill in dates at a basketball teams arena. What's so hard to comprehend about that. Outside of those 3 ahl teams no ahl team owns their arena. The worst part of this whole thing is the fact that your a middle aged man obsessed with a minor league hockey team 100 miles away from where you live.. That is complely not normal.... You need to seek counseling for you obsession and anger.......and on top of that you don't follow ahl hockey.... Pathetic. I could care less what happens in Albany or syracuse......get some help.........
And when you debate like a moron and are basically put in a corner you resort back to your utican ways and start name calling. You need a dose of reality tough guy and step out of your cess pool once in a while. Simply...just look where you live. You people need government grants to get a hockey team and you're fighting about a convenience store. Think about it and soak in that reality.

Typical poor off-base debate. This isn't about some other city it's about what Utica can't afford now can you follow along or no? It's about the welfare handouts successful" comets. I'm just pointing out their own laughable words. Struck another nerve troll? My god these posts stick & ball people really are poorly equipped for basics.

It would be one thing if they acted humble about it but they forgot everyone heard the stories about crony capitalism in action and NY being broke. They're like the utica street thugs they get welfare but have to pretend they're all super "successful" now on top of too totally ignoring that the ticket price itself translates to a subsidy... and that umm everyone can SEE this!

Like I said they're just low-self esteem poor uticans.... they just lie and don't even TRY to pay attention to their own contradictions. I guess if they think one retard watching WKTV believes their "successful greatness on their own dime and hard work" then it makes it true.

Utica people are so obsessed with appearances and games/entertainment. It isn't any wonder why they live in a welfare-centric community.

Really. Just scroll up and read your attempted condescending post.

And about the comets players spending money. So a two and half million dollar investment on the backs of the taxpayers is worth 20 guys paying rent and eating pizza for a year?

Do you need a hug? The fact is that many bussines get Grants Tax breaks/incentives not just those in Utica. You don't think that Wal-Mart gets some sort of Tax break/incentive from a city/town when they build new store?

And that's the problem with New York State. Why should doing business need to be incentivized? Why should the taxpayers constantly foot the bill? Why essentially did esche and Duross get a grant to essentially only further themselves? Wheres all the other activities they promised for the auditorium? Why did that grant money pretty much only go towards hockey essentials for their business?

ummm you only have one oar in the water buddy..... the state invested because of all the tax revenue that the comets produce. its not all about visiting teams and hotels. its about the taxes on ticket sales, cocession sales, gift shop sales. lets say the average ticket is $17 bucks, taxed a 9.25% thats 1.57 a seat times 3400 fans average.$5338.00 bucks a game in tax revanue for the city.i have no clue what food sales are, or the gift shop, but its all revenue for the city. that gift shop was sold out of almost everything by years end, jerseys at 150 bucks a pop. they had a couple special game worn jersey auctions, and both of those sets of jerseys were over 30 grand in sales apice..... and if they start having concerts and other attractions tax revenue will continue to flow in.....

Yes, Only New York State entizes businesses through Grants and tax breaks and other incentives. No other State does this. Only New York

That's a far cry from recouping over 2.5 million dollars. I think you need to reread how sales tax is dispersed as well. The bottom line is the grant went for one purpose and one purpose only...to find the private hockey business. None of that money went towards improvements to the aud aside hockey improvements.

New York produces the least, taxes the most and 3 million people left NYS last year do the math.

So what you are trying to say is that since pretty much every state uses incentives to bring businesses to their states New York should'nt do the same thing?

<quoted text> not gonna argue with you... The buildings main purpose is as a hockey rink, and its anchor tenate is a hockey team... It would make sense to put improvements toward that purpose. They did improvements to murnane field back in the eighty's and surprisingly they were for a baseball team..... Go figure....... There will be more improvements made such as bathroom additions and a new exterior to the building wWhich helps the overall upkeep of the building whomever uses it.....
Well those other improvements will never be done and the aud is defined as a multi-purpose facility. I wish I could find the article where palmidiot and his other crony were talking about how the improvements to the aud will benefit it year long. Maybe I'll get lucky with some random searches. Well anyway...look how it's benefitting. It will essentially sit vacant the entire summer. Great management esche and Duross.

Look at who pays the taxes in NYS. The private worker. Offering business' tax free zones and ten year outs? Are you kidding? It's probably the biggest flop this state has ever made. Back on point. Esche and Duross essentially received over a 2.5 million dollar gift for their business which they filtered through their friends and families hands and NYS or oneida county will never recoup that money. If I were the owner in glens falls who just secured the flames affaire for a year I'd be pretty pissed off.

What exactly is your point?
Not recoup?
First, It's a Grant not a loan
Secondly, You don't think the State recoups that money from taxes from tickets, food , merchandise etc....?
Also if Glen Falls and/or the Flames want to secure themselves a Grant or a loan they can do whatever they want (or not) nobody is stopping them!

The money was sold as an "improvement to a general use facility" but all of the money went towards ahl improvements so esche and Duross could have their one year wonder. What don't you understand?
