On page 3A of the Saturday OD Kirkland lays out for the Paper how much their drivers like the Dickey-john sand and salt spreaders and how much they have saved. Before plows were putting down 1800-2400 pounds per mile now they apply about 600 pounds per mile.
THe Utica drivers don't like the Dickey-john spreaders. They feel they can do a better job manually. Utica uses salt only and they have already gone through 3,000 tons.At 44.00 per ton it is significantly more expensive than the blend of salt and sand.I must be missing something here. Where is Dave Short?
