Starting a bold new chapter in fine Utica cuisine. Watch for several local Italian restaurants to close soon.

Much better than many of the so-called Italian restaurants in this area. Never had a bad meal there...I think people will be surprised when they try it. Great atmosphere, very polite, consistent food, and great prices. Can't wait...

Stay away, there will be one less person I have to stand behind in line. Can you imagine how crowded that place is going to be. All the area restaurants will be fine serving the overflow of people that don't want to wait in line for OG.

Seem like our "wonderful local competitors" are already getting nervous. Olive Garden will do great, just like they do in all their other restaurants. Far better than ANY of our locals that are now run by the new generation that has lost track of the good service and great food that made Mama and Papa's restaurant so great... Get ready kiddies, you may have to get a real job. Hell, maybe you can wash dishes at OLIVE GARDEN.

As for us, we'll be there next Tuesday to wish Olive Garden well. I'm getting their great salad, Shrimp Primavera and their wonderful Sangria.

If the food and service aren't great then after a very short time people won't go there anymore. It's called the free market. People will say whether it survives or not.

I'm guessing that it will do well and that a year from now if you go after 6 o'clock there will still be a wait. People who have their favorite local Italian restaurants will still go to them. People who like Outback, Applebee's, Uno...... will be the ones who try Olive Garden.

I just had dinner at the Olive Garden on Erie Blvd(Rte 5) in Syracuse recently. It was great.

I'm guessing your intestinal health (and other health) are much more at risk when you go to your local "Spaghetti Joe's". Big chains like Olive Garden don't stay in business long if people get sick. My guess is that they have much more strict food preparation and storage policies than the locals.

If the local Italian eateries have a superior product then why all of the mud slinging toward Olive Garden? If it truly better then people will choose.

Mom and Pop Italian places in Utica have a reason to be worried. They can't compete with this giant corporation and win.

The Darden Restaurant Corporation owns the following brands:

Red Lobster
Olive Garden
Longhorn Steakhouse
Bahama Breeze Island Grille
Seasons 52 Fresh Grill
The Capital Grille
Eddie V's Prime Seafood
Yard House

Started in 1968, Darden has grown to become the world's largest full-service restaurant company.

Through its subsidiaries, Darden owns and operates more than 2,100 restaurants, employs more than 200,000 people (paying low wages) and serves more than 425 million meals a year.

Nice try olive garden PR scumbag. This chain is one of the worst. All the food is prepared off site and frozen. With all the good Italian places who would eat here? Is this the economic turnaround Oboma has promised, an Olive Garden in every town?

Way over rated.!!! It's just a chain of fast food pasta. If you want real Italian food, check out Carrabbas Iin Syracuse, or Casatina's in Canastota !

Interesting but keep in mind that at this point they are only allegations. 30 people in 16 states and they can tie only 2 to Olive Garden and Red Lobster.

Not great press for Olive Garden just prior to the New Hartford opening though.
