We have Fr David now. He will NOT let u bring the bulletins into the church. You can only get your bulletin AFTER mass. You CANNOT leave mass during communion. If you are a eucharistic minister, he has 'x's with masking tape on the floor of the altar telling you where you can stand. He doesn't do 2 masses a day. You can't even get a mass said during the wk unless u book a yr in advance and God help ya if there's a funeral on the day u scheduled a mass---------4getaboutit! We're leaving & going to St marks.
Most of the catholic churches are the same thing,,to much legalism and no teaching of the word

My church is Mount Zion and I LOVE it. Im not trying to be technical, but when you ask "what is the best church..." I'm not sure how to answer that. I think there are a lot of great churches in Utica. As somebody already mentioned, Marcy Assembly is great, Foursquare is great, etc. etc. Its just a matter of preference. Thank God we live in a country where we have so many options. At the end of the day, if you believe in Jesus as the son of God and the only way to heaven, we're all on the same team. If you'd like come visit my church sometime. We have a service at 6:00 on Saturday and Sunday at 9:00am and 11am.

Some of the reasons I love Mount Zion...

1. Their work with the poor ... Compassion Coalition helps feed so many throughout the mohawk valley. As well as ongoing efforts in helping missionaries and organizations like love146 and International Justice Mission.

2. Their Relevant teaching - I always walk away with something i can apply to my life and I love inviting people I know to come with me to hear the same.

3. Their youth & children ministries are incredible. Second to none.(That is for sure!)

4. The friends i have made there are like family. There is a strong value on community.

Just to name a few.

I actually used to go there and I did like somethings about it, however there is alot that I didn't like.. I felt uncomfortable because no one really welcomed my family.. I actually never felt like it was a church family and I wanted that in a church. I actually seen Pastor Mike Jr at walmart a few weeks ago and he never even said hello and I know he seen us because him and his wife looked right at us that alone speaks.. I want a church that the Pastors know who you are and speak to you... I stopped going because of that reason and I am also looking for another church to attend at this time...

Excuse me, it is his money...he earns it...he is not spending the churches money, it is his own. Thats like your boss telling you you can't spend your paycheck on whatever it is you want. If you went to church every week you would know that he never preaches the horrors of gambling. Shame on you for trying to destroy this mans reputation.

Read in the new testament, how when Christ was dying on the cross, what the roman soldiers were doing with his belongings.

right on, jodi, you are right....it IS NOT stated anywhere that gambling is a sin.
Father La Fache has devoted his life to God and the church. What he does in his leisure time to relax is ABSOLUTELY no ones business. Christ died on the cross for our sins, so if one believes that it really and truly is a sin to gamble, then 'so be it' In one way or another, we are ALL sinners and a 'little' sin doesn't make one a 'bad' person.remember, sins may be forgiven.. and he who is without sin cast the first stone, and then let us all know who you are....it should be interesting.

Jody is missing the point.Priests never gasmbled and they should not.LaFache should help some poor family with food ibstead of the indians. This is a vice not a priviledge for a priest.

jody isn't missing the point....hail mary is... it is father La Faches money to do with it as he wishes...it is his leisure time to enjoy as he wishes..he works hard and is entitled to it, he would be there in a heartbeat if YOU needed him..Stop casting stones.

He was dying on the cross and they were casting lots (gambling) over his belonging,, I cant remember which other verses preachers use, Im no bible scholar thats for sure, but I remember once while in church the preacher cited some particular verses that he used to say gambling was sinful, maybe somebody else with more knowledge out there could elaborate on this,, this particular church also spoke about the sinfulness of dancing,, I dont really know myself, I play the lottery and bet on the horses once in awhile, I dont feel like Im sinning, of course some of the churches teach that just about everything you do is sin,, sometimes they go a little overboard in my opinion,so let someone with more knowledge comment on this, I would be interested in hearing some more comments
