<quoted text>Well said and that's my point, as you stated your working to pay for the public workers free pension. And you don't make enough to save for your own retirement that's a shame. Think of this the average public employee will receive between 1 and 2 million dollars if they retire at 42 and live till 84 the average life expectancy. The average private sector employee that can retire at 62 may have 40k saved in there 401 k. This is a by far the biggest injustice of the transfer of wealth in my opinion.
Yes my response was based on your original post and im glad that i was in the ballpark with my response. Its hard for me because i have ppl on both ends of the spectrum and then me. I guess when the prisons first came into the area i should have been in line for the job but i really didnt want to do that type of work. And afterall if i did i would just be another one of the high end sweetheart deal union workers looking down on ppl as myself.

I hope something changes for the better but i dont see it. Take care and its time for me to go and make that tax money.

They do put local governments in a tight spot. There is no denying it. They don't (always) appear to meet municipalities half way during tough budget times. When it comes down to it....there is no difference between 1 person in a union and 1 person not in a union....so the non union person shouldn't suffer more. just an opinion

There is some of this where I live but waste is more in check. I don't think people really truly want publics to "suffer" but boy the consistent screwups and denials probably don't make it easy on the 79 actual state revenue producing taxpayers left there.

The only real logical way out is unworkable because in no other words the collective IQ of the entire region is in the low teens and the 3 "top" media outlets are cheerleading the corrupt career parasite failures and ignorant of the local and state habit of "one upstate lobster-hand washed the other". The Dems side of the friends and family nfp grant state fed married the republican side of the gene pool and POW! Mohawk Valley of the Undead!

The unions here are certainly crippling this city. Detroit was a real wake-up call to this region. We are Rust Belt as well and face many of the same problems.

I believe the Government funded Unions is crippling us but not the private company unions.

Unions are no longer needed and ALL should be voided. Ask yourself what does any Union do to earn the high dues they charge for each union member to "join" their Union?

We now have State and Federal laws to protect the rights of an employee - NOT the Unions.

I worked in the private sector long enough to earn a substantial Pension but I worked for every penny of it; nothing was given to me.

IMO - Law enforcement deserve every penny they earn due to the dangerous environment they work in and the criminal element they have to come into contact with on a daily basis. BUT, their Pensions should be based on what the Private Sector does - use a small percentage of their annual salaries multiplied by the number of years they worked MINUS 40% for their Social Security Retirement checks they will also receive.

ALL paychecks for ALL that actually work should be based on Merit performance NOT automatic raises for all.
