Can this possibly be true- Dave Morgan has been party and banquet manager at Hotel Utica? A friend of mine told me this- and he's been collecting cash deposits for parties, including WEDDINGS, that will be held while he's in PRISON.
Doesn't the city run the Hotel Utica? Can it be possible that he would be given this gig AFTER the Kitty's on the Canal fiasco (you know, when he rented Kitty's from the CITY and failed to pay the CITY thousands of dollars in rent, and the CITY had to sue him for the thousands he owed the CITY and to get him evicted from the CITY'S building when he refused to leave the CITY owned restaurant). So of course, this criminal coke-head nut case seemed like a natural fit to run a CIYT business, right?
Is there any way that this area isn't the worst place on plant f.cking Earth, outside of Afghanistan? Why not just have Matty Cuda run the f.cking place? Is he too honest by the City's standards?
Here's an idea. Rather than the City being obsessed with f.cking up the restaurant business around here (see the aforementioned Kitty's and Hotel Utica f.ck-up, along with the Valley View debacle), it should stick with f.cking up road maintenance and garbage collection. Leave it to City government f.ck-heads to f.ck-up the only industry we seem to be any good at.

This is typical. There are any number of great restaurants around here run successfully by reputable business people. It's the one thing this area is known to be any good at. Leave to our local corrupt politicians to f.ck that-up.

One of the most unbelievable things I heard recently was the whole Valley View disgrace. The owner hadn't paid thousands in rent, was in default on his lease, which was a sweat-heart deal to begin with, and what do we do? Renew the contract with a guy who has repeatedly not paid his rent. Can you imagine renewing a lease with someone who constantly refuses to pay rent? Only in f.cking Utica.

I guess the ideal of opening the place up to competitive bid limited to people who would actually PAY their rent escaped the geniuses at City Hall.

I've never seen a city like this one before, it is run by gangs of crooks who rip everyone off and keep their benefit friends hired/appointed. Whatever happened with that mayor that ripped the city off for millions then quietly jumped off the train?

I worked with Jeff for years poster. He always worked hard at the school and whenever my wife and I go to his place hrs running around making sure everyone is enjoying there dinner. If you want to put your own place in there why not submit a plan to the city. How many other people applied to that place before Jeff got his lease renewed?

the city does to run the hotel. Chuck jr does. Dave is back doing crappy banquets ( his food is so bad) but has nothing to do with bar business. They let him postpone his jail to finish the weddings booked. He also needs heart surgery, which he will probably get on our taxes in prison

THE City DOES NOT own Hotel Utica, Brian Gaetano does. The city is only a lienholder.

notwithstanding the back rent and default, how was it a sweetheart deal? Remodeling and investing a quarter million of his money in a building he does not own? It was a sweetheart deal for the city.

Apply for what? Was there a process in place by which the City solicited applications? The mayor announced they were renewing the lease, period. Again, what person would renew a least with a tenant who systematically didn't pay his rent? And why is it the City's taxpayers obligation to subsidize his business and wait until he decides he has enough extra money to pay his bills? Would a bank do that? A private owner? I think not.

And is it true the City pays for the utilities, upkeep of the facility, collects the garbage, and plows the parking lot in the winter? If true, it is one of the most corrupt deals in City history. I'll take a wild guess and say the owner of Chesterfields, Venturas, Encora, or any other decently run restaurant around here could make it work if they only had to pay their rent or mortgage when they felt like it, had no National Grid bill, and had someone maintaining their place and plowing their parking lot.... for FREE.

And if he runs a restaurant, isn't it his job to make sure his customers are happy?

What a joke. Just another embarrassment for this joke of a City. No wonder why this place is perennially in the sh.tter.

Jeff is a great host and makes sure you are happy with the meal and service. It is a great place to socialize and meet new people. I have been going there for yrs, went to great wedding and parties there and everthing was numbero uno. Don't know what your problem is but if you don't like the place, don't go! In fact what was so bad about it that you need to tell this topix audience? Be specific without showing such obvious jealously on your part!!!

It's all part of the Italian friends and family plan to suck every last morsel and fiber from this rathole city.
