Dear St. Luke's Hospital Staff (Utica, New York), 1st floor today, RN CHARGE NURSE PAT H, and RN STEPH.

HOW DARE YOU hide behind the name of Saint Luke who was an actual caring physician!

HOW DARE YOU treat elderly patients as if they don't exist!

HOW DARE YOU put pretend wrist bands on elderly patients when you don't respond to a call button!

HOW DARE YOU make an elderly patient have to hold there urine and feces 20 minutes before you respond!

HOW DARE YOU have the cleaning crew be the only persons who care.

HOW DARE YOU have the case manager tell me a care attendant should have been checking on him every hour. NO THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!

HOW DARE YOU suggest St. Luke's Rehab, it looks nice but after today NO WAY!

I agree whole heartedly. I have been present when someone rings a bell and waits until they can no longer. Then it takes forever for an aide to clean the patient. So sorry for the elderly folks. If anyone has family there please spend as much time as you can to make sure they are heard..

Do the math. If each nurse has a 6 patient assignment they can spend up to 10 minutes with each patient each hour. That is if they do nothing but patient care. Not including leaving the bedside to gather supplies, linens, medications or documentation. Say each care attendant has 15 patients to care for, that leaves 4 minutes to care for each patient each hour. I'm sorry your loved one did not receive the care you feel they needed but it's possible they hospital needs more staff

I would like to comment about the cleanliness of our hospitals. They are filthy. The floors are disgusting the bathrooms smell and even the walls are dirty. No wonder new infections are popping up. Administration must take this serious and get rid of the cleaners that don't want to clean. A hospital should be spotless and clean. Ours are not!

I took my daughter to St. Luke's ER. She was in respiratory distress and I was afraid she was going to die. We waited in a room for over 25 minutes before they took her name. Then we waited again. It was a full hour before she was even allowed in an examining room. No one examined her until after we were in the exam room for another 25 minutes. The troll they have collecting co-pays was there IMMEDIATELY demanding a fifty dollar co-pay. Like I remembered to bring money while watching my daughter gasp for breath. I threw the troll out of the room and she threw an envelope at me with a copay bill. Nice place.....BTW, we were the only people in the waiting room at that early morning hour so don't blame it on too many people ahead of me.

I would never lie about a child of mine or anything related to her and unlike you, I can only speak for myself. Every bit of it happened and I reported it to my doctor.

These hospitals are the worst and the only concern is the BUCK PASSING and Collecting for care. I understand that things need to be paid, but medical care still needs to be given if one can't afford it regardless and let the wealthy be the ones who pay. If you can't afford it then still get some sort of care like the welfare do.

I have never been on welfare in my life, neither were my parents or my grandparents. I have an HMO and I pay dearly for it out of my paycheck. I probably even pay for most of your insurance.

Hopefully, you didn't. Humanity would be much better off if your gene pool ended with you. Cheers!

I am here to tell you that the staff at this hospital do care. We do the best with what we have . You can't be in 2 places at once and appreciate any help you can give your loved one because we hate to make them wait. Unfortunately you are not aware of what we are dealing with when they are waiting. Maybe someone is having a seizure, not breathing great, or they just need something at the same as you. Unless every patient has their own nurse, which is not possible, there are times you will wait.

I call BS. If you have an issue, start with the facility, NYS dept of health, office of the professions, better business bureau, etc.. TOPIX is complaining for LOSERS. Bring it up where it counts. Not here.

Or maybe you are sitting on your fat asses at the nurses's station doing nothing but gossiping, hogging down sweets and checking out shoes on the internet. All one has to do is take a look at all of you 'really caring' nurses as you chit with each other and laugh and laugh and laugh --it isn't work you are talking about. Let's see, boyfriends are always a prime topic, next what needy patient can we criticize, what charge nurse can we draw and quarter and what doctor is sleeping with whom...it's not you slackers, that's for sure. Patient care is last on your list. Stop the bullshit, everyone figured out what 9/10's of nurses are really like years ago. You, as a group, suck and always will. No one expects much and you have failed to meet even the lowest of expectations. Try doing what you were hired for, just once.
