They announce 3k+ but that is not actual butts in seats. Friday the announced 3200, if there was 2k I be fooled. Yes they sold 1600 season tixs but the Comets draw very few others. They draw nobody from Utica, how could they? Utica is so poor they can't afford a game. NH stays away because it is in Utica( robbiers and killings and druggies). So the draw is limited. I bet today, Sunday they have 1700 in the crowd. I'm not knocking the Comets, the game is great, I'm knocking the city of suck azz Utica.

My name is Greg and my manhood is small, very small. I compensate for it by posting negatively on Topic. It helps me cope with my miserable life and my tiny manhood.

I'd say there were 2500 at that game. Very loud crowd. There were a lot of empty seats in my section, and mine is almost always full. Cold snowy weather, basketball has started and not many wins at home... Plus a lot of home games in December.... Hope people show up!!
Don't forget that these are the last 2 weekends of availabilty to have company, etc. Christmas parties and holiday gatherings, so keep that in mind when you account for the increase in empty seats as well...People do have other obligations on weekends especially this particular time of the year... I may have replied in the wrong spot here but I do feel that this is a HUGE reason for the drop-off in attendance.Just trying to give a fair account of the situation, if you may...Anyone else agree???

Excuses excuses excuses, same as when Devils were here. Always an excuse for small crowds. The real reason is people can't afford it anymore in a depressed area.

<quoted text>. Excellent point. Also cash is tight with gift giving. Some wins at home will help.
Thanks uc comet...It does make some sense though. Jack don't know Jack!

I just watched the Comet video from today's game on WKTV news. The Aud was nearly empty. Where are all of those season ticket holders? Where are all of those taxpayers who were so happy that Joe Griffo spent 7 million of their dollars to upgrade the Aud?

I was so ready for this thread to start...it's a Sunday afternoon people less then two weeks before x-mas. Were you expecting a sellout? If you've looked at the AHL attendance recently you'll see that we've overtaken another team in terms of attendance. Smallest rink, smallest city with an expansion team who started out pretty dismal.

I'd say we're doing pretty good. Btw...all that money spent on beer, food, souvenirs all goes to the Comets coffers.

Be miserable as you may, but the Comets have been a successful venture so far. Now as they start stringing together more wins and we get deeper into winter you'll see even more people going to the games.

<quoted text> its a tough time of year. Everyone is busy with holidays, and football. No other local games today. But sat nights local rivals were weak crowds also. Albany had 3200 last night. Portland under 1900, Adirondack 2600 and Bridgeport 2250. Its not just Utica....
It looked like less than a thousand people today. where are the season ticket holders?

All seriousness todays game was awsome to watch. Even the other team. The quality of hockey is unreal. If people in utica don't want to see this product then for real there is no hope for anything. Utica should just worry about the dpw and police department and paying for that just to survive cause todays game was very exciting.

The comets deserve every season ticket holder that can make it wensday along with a sell out. They have been winning and are always out in the community with kids and always doing a some type of charity. After every win they salute their fans to show how appreciative they are to have good fans sticking with them due to their ruff start. All I'm saying is they deserve a good crowd this week. There shouldn't be much else going on

Oh, and don't forget, it was Sunday; and the Oprah reruns are still on tv.
There will always be a million reasons why not to go to a game. I thought that this was Utica; the hotbed of professional hockey:)
Folks, it is just like it has always been. It was a novelty the first few weeks; now the slide begins. Cheap beer night is a given for a big crowd in Utica, and after that it's all over. Just like in the past.

I was there and there was easily less than 1000 in building. Don't want to here excuses, we heard them all before for the Devils. Only 1 valid excuse, This area and Utica stink.

there was more than that, way too noisy for 1000 fans. with college going on break this week, it should give attendance a boost.... its great hockey, but last weeks loses didnt help. the team is improving, and the canucks arch rival are in town the next two games!! i also think the fact that comets have 7 straight home games will have something to do with it.

And once again as in nearly every other post I write on, no one has an argument for my statements. People on Topix are one hit wonders...Comets suck, Utica sucks, blah, blah, blah.

Come back at me with something valid people.

Like I said the way it's set up, the organization that runs the Comets, the Aud, etc...is having a successful year.

Awesome game yesterday. Yes there were plenty of empty seats in sections that were sold to season ticket holders but they missed a heck of a hockey game. People can't attend every game because of other commitments but it is great that they showed their support by purchasing season tickets in the first place.

The bottom line is that it was a fantastic game to watch and the shootout goal scored by #17 Jensen was worth the price of admission alone, What a move!. Two home games this past weekend and two wins. The Comets are a much improved team and are exciting to watch.
