This is more of a State issue vs. a Federal issue. Yes, the Fed's set the base rate, however, State government's can choose to raise it. Some have, most haven't.

Same reason why NY State is known as the "Cadillac of Welfare". DC sets the minimum rate for welfare programs, all State's must provide at least "7 of our 10 minimums" to comply.

NY State goes above and beyond and provides all 10. Obama Phones aren't mandatory. It's NYS that chooses to give everything on the table.

Raising minimum wage only benefits those who get paid it and eventually it doesn't even benefit them.......... All its going to do is cause an inflation spike an everybody making min.wage will be right back to where they started..McDonalds will raise all their prices along with gas stations restaurants, retail stores etc etc etc... The people who get it stuck in their ass are the folks who make 15-20$hr because they are actually brought closer to the minimum wage standards.. Its just a rediculous idea to make people who make minimum wage feel better..

Obama isn't emperor dipfucks. Congress has to pass a law to raise the minimum wage. It isn't raised via executive fiat you f.king dopes. The Republicans in the House are opposed to raising it.

Man people are dumb.

Please give examples of when this has happened in the past.
It never has. That's why no one ever points to any historic examples. Typical Right Wing Canard.

So what you're saying is every buisness that pays an employee is going to just eat the cost ? Its a huge trickle effect. We don't need "historic examples" because its just blatantly obvious. If a company is trying to maintain say a 12% profit margin and they are forced to pay their employees more who's going to pay for ? What ? Out of the kindness of their hearts they are going to absorb the loss? Here another thing.Everyone who already makes above minimum wage do you think they are going to get paid more to keep the gap the same ? HELL NO !! So in essence anyone making more than minimum wage would actually get a pay reduction. Sure it won't be immediately felt , but a year or so later it will.TYPICAL left wing mentality !!! Y'all think raising min wage is doing anyone a favor you're dead wrong.

Don't get duped into arguing with the Liberals. Their only answers become name calling, as they have no basis to the premise they stand behind. You'll just end up being called a bigot, racist, homophobe, etc......

The Liberal media allows them to play that hand.

Back to minimum wage, everyone in this Country appreciates an honest day's work, and fast food workers who do that honest work. Minimum wage jobs are minimum wage as the majority of those workers are unskilled. Nobody is saying "unskilled" means you're a degenerate, but a college degree is a prerequisite for most jobs in this Country that pay higher than minimum wage.

If Liberals ever got off their high horse and tried to figure out why a can of tuna fish is $1.00 now, when it was $0.50 five years ago, or why bacon is $8.00 a pound now vs.$4.00 five years ago, maybe they'd be able to solve some problems.

Instead they just sell this minimum wage argument to their supporters. I replace "sell" with "use".

Raising minimum wage has never positively affected anyone. Its been proven over and over.
It has a profound effect on people looking for entry level jobs that pay minim wage, 1 because most entry level oportunity for advancement jobs pay minimum wage and give those employees raises within a year typically. What has happened in past min wage hikes is those entry level positions don't end up becoming sought out. Because corporations trim the advancement pay or raises to compensate for it leaving unskilled lazy ass workers in dead end spots.. It also affects mid level pay skilled workers, not only do they not get a raise to keep them at the same scale as entry level workers their future raises in consideration are effected by minimum wage hikes..

I could go on forever but in the end no one benefits..... do some research before you run your mouth...somewhere besides pro obammy pushing agenda places

I don't think a $2.00 raise in the minimum wage over the next year or two would have a negative impact on the economy. However, I am positive that raising the minimum wage to $15.00 all at once definitely would. The economy is flexible enough to withstand minor adjustments.

Everything in moderation.

It seems like when Bush was president there were several increases in the federal minimum wage. In the 8 years that Bush was president I think the minimum wage went from 6 dollars per hour to 7.25. Since Obama has been president the minimum wage has not changed from 7.25. Meanwhile, corporate profits are at all time highs and the stock market is booming. If Obama cares so much about the poor and working classes, why hasn't he raised the minimum wage even once in the 6 years that he has been president?

Congress has to approve the raise.

The president doesn't raise the minimum raise, Einstein. The Republicans control the House; therefore being a member of the working poor means you're one step below criminals.
