Didn't even hesitate to the media and only a month after the comets started playing. I like the mayors body language and response too.
Not even a hesitation on aquillinis part. Not even a second.

Nice try with the youtube video. "Ask the Mayor"......well the Canucks wanted the Mayor to guarantee a certain revenue level similar to what the Flames were given but the Mayor did not come through for them. They will not sign another contact with any AHL team including the Canucks that puts taxpayer money into guaranteeing a break even point for the NHL/AHL team.

The Canucks will not be moving their AHL team to Abbotsford and will be staying in Utica. I believe you are right in that they wanted to last year and probably earlier this year but that ship has left the dock. There will be no AHL team in Abbotsford next season.

Vancouver has way too much to think about right now and having their AHL team in Abbotsford isn't one of them. They just fired their GM and brought on Trevor Linden as their new President of Hockey Operations. Why? Because season ticket renewals were lagging and the fan base was calling for it. The media circus press conference introducing Linden was held on the last day current season ticket holders could renew before possibly losing their seats. That dead line was pushed back a week with the Linden announcement.

You seem to think that the Canucks owner is so rich that he doesn't care about losing money in Abbotsford yet he is so worried about losing ticket revenue at Canucks games he is making knee jerk reactions to try and keep his current fan base from bolting on them. And you really think he plans on forcing Canucks fans to buy Abbotsford tickets as part of their Canucks ticket packages. Yea right - good luck with that one.

I didn't but season tickets to the Comets games this year but went to most every game so I am a proud new season ticket holder for next season. Looking forward to many more years of Utica Comets hockey.

And by the way Riggies are delicious.

Did they have "way too much to think about" last year when they bought a team and relocated it? I hope the refund process goes well for you. They're were some hiccups in peoria last season.

The differences

Last year the Canucks made the playoffs and sold out every game.

This year they did not make the playoffs and played to a non sold out arena down the stretch. And because they did not make the playoffs they are losing out on the added revenue that the playoffs bring.

The Canucks are more worried about righting the ship right now and stabilizing their own revenue base. Putting an AHL team in a money losing location like Abbotsford is not a priority. It is not happening any time soon if forever. But you will never admit that.

Actually aquillini couldn't care less about pro sports. He's in the empire business. As long as he's making money he doesn't care. He's not a mark Cuban type with his teams. It's a well known fact he want the complex in abbotsford. See you in June.

Changing the subject again.

Do you claim to personally know him? Sounds like he cares enough to make a knee jerk reaction to lagging season ticket sales and choreograph press conferences to align with season ticket renewal dates. Sounds to me like like a man who is worried that "His Hockey Business" might not be a profitable as it was last year.

<quoted text> actually he strikes me as a pretty book smart guy who thinks that is all that matters. When it comes to common sense, forget it because he has none. He's the guy everyone talks about what stupid sh*it he dies and he's totally oblivious to all of it. Obviously he has some mental issues as no normal person would go on topic for a city 100 miles away and make a complete fool of himself. He holds grudges from his childhood 20 yrs later and still thinks he knows it all cause he saw a 10 month old piece on the internet........simply no common sense and does not deal with reality. The comets and the fans have won over the canucks. That's today's news... He's still stuck on last years news and still holding grudges from childhood.........
