More than fifty percent of upd will be retiring to take advanage of health care benefits in expiring contract. If they are eligible to retire they will get 100 percent of health care payed for life. The new contract that starts soon will force retirees to pay twenty five percent of the benefit

Good then when the city goes bankrupt they will get nothing.

Good...as they retire the city can use that as an opportunity to eliminate position within the dept. The OCS & NYSP can assume these patrol areas in the city and reduce the size & expense of the UPD. Any extra monies realized can be given to the UFD & Russ Brooks to replace 5 older fire rigs.
