I am one of the registered sex offenders and I have been placed at the Hampton Inn on north genesee st for the past 8 months, courtesy of Oneida county... There is nothing to do in this area and I think a casino would be a great addition to the area.

It's not up to the retard Mayor or the retard Country career parasite Picente. Wow! We'd be in real trouble the day people with the resource to build a casino in uterus utica stink hole, capital of the white trash ignorant old redneck universe. You can kiss the casino dreams goodbye nobody with a brain will come let those ootica assholes try to "boss" their way into that payday. For 50 years all utica has ever done is prove you can't trust a ootican with a fcking nickel. look how they squander and tax everything to death to keep right on their crackhead habits of paying more pubic parasites than any city in the state for exactly noting but dead people and pathetic simpleton cop excuses in return.

Utica couldn't afford the massive red tape to get a gaming license. Casino in Utica? When hell freezes over and pigs fly. Never gonna happen...

I would think its the owners of the casino that would need to secure the gaming license not the city.

Utica will NEVER be chosen for a Casino. Even an IDIOT knows you put Casinos where the money is NOT where Poverty is.

Poverty FOLLOWS the introduction of casinos in to an area, it doesn't preceed it. Just look at Atlantic City.

Try this, create riverboat spots, and charge rent payable to the city, state and county. We dont buy the riverboat or run it. Let private industry buy them, and run them for example call Steve Wynn.

The state county and city have nothing to do with operation of the riverboats except safety. The riverboats pay a minimum monthly rate of $400,000 with an option to have up to 3 riverboat slots in the harbor.

During the Summer months the rent for a harbor riverboat slot could be 1.2 million per slot.

Let private industry run riverboats, Let them pay off the government with big fat checks.

If it generates 15 million per year, This will almost make up for the Onieda's refusal to pay taxes.

If Utica, doesn't get a casino, it might be necessary to write Utica's obit.

Died from High Taxation. Money out from Utica to the State and County through excessive sales tax. This sales tax from Mr. Griffo crippled the economy. The State produced unfunded mandates. The indians not paying taxes was just one more back-breaking straw. See writing Utica's obit means we get to fight over why Utica collapased. If we just legalize gambling then it will all be just water under the bridge. If the county and state dont allow Utica a casino it is the same as pushing Utica off the fiscal cliff.

If we legalize gambling on the erie canal owned by canal corp and the thruway authority, we wouldn't have to pay trade-ending tolls on the thruway. We are one of very few states which charges its citizens to travel in the state.

Utica, the poorest city, needs tax-amnesty like the Oneida Nation. They might not agree, but they wouldn't, would they?

its so clean at Atlantic city because a lot of the casinos left the city of utica police will benefit from the casino because 10% of the casino money will go to utica

the other consequence of NOT having riverboat casinos...

increasing Oneida County property taxes and permanent highest sales tax in the country

the bottom line is the government is using the citizens as the piggy bank. Why not let government have its own piggy bank called the riverboat? Picente wants you to pay more taxes. Have you any doubt?

Our politicians (YOU) are using anti-competitive practices to protect the industry of another country. Bravo Picente. Don't ever complain about having a slim budget ever agian. Don't raise taxes either.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot and blame Nike.

IF the county needs money and the state offers a casino dont tell 'em we really want a chip plant. Are you lead poisoned too, like us Uticans?

Gambling is legal. Go anywhere in the USA. It's everywhere. IT is unjust to prohibit gambling in Utica when it is allowed everywhere else.

Except it actually doesn't. No correlation between opening a casino and an increase to poverty in same region. None whatsoever.

Does anyone realize a state run casino is just another form of taxation built using taxpayers money?

Except this would not be a state run casino. Gambling will be state regulated not state run.
