Anybody tried this new migraine treatment, of receiving Botox shots in the head and neck? Has it worked for you?

It's not a new treatment for migraines it's been around for a while. I worked for a insurance company and people would get it all the time so it must work and insurance covers it for mirgraines.

My sister suffers from migraines.. She got the botox a few months back and it really helped her for about two weeks.. Then the headache came back.. Then she got the botox again.. And less than a week later it was back.. Now it doesnt really do anything, just relieves the edge for about a day.

I am now 30 years old and I have suffered from tension headaches and occasional migraines since I was 17. The migraines I used to have were so bad that I was actually tested through CT scans and MRI's to make sure I did not have a tumor or aneurysm like my mother did. Fortunately, I am fine and all results were negative. However, the only type of relief I could find through two neurologists I went to, were from strong medications such as Imitrex or shots from a visit to the ER.
One day after a new friend and I were talking, I came to discover that he also suffered from these headaches and actually went to a plastic surgeon for botox injections at Botox Australia I couldn't believe that botox could offer this type of relief! So I also went to his plastic surgeon for a consultation and wound up getting the injections myself.

Yes this works. It takes a week to get into your system. The first treatment basically takes the edge off your headaches and makes them less severe. Your second treatment headaches are getting fewer and fewer and the pain is less than 5 on a scale of 1-10. I haven't had my third shot yet, but they should be just about gone by then. You have to have three treatments. You have to wait three months in between treatments. Doctor Shatla gives the shots in his office and only takes 5 min. He is a fantastic Doctor!

I had the shots recently from Shatla , so far I'm having good results, half the headaches and less severe! I say go for it if your insurance covers it, otherwise it's $1600.00!

I feel your pain, it's worth a try! Imitrex and naproxen usually works for me, but not always!

I get 3 or 4 a week sometimes, and I've tried everything for prevention and treatment, but came back to imitrex because it had the least side effects for me. It's been over a month since my Botox and I've had good results! You have to get 15 migraines a month to qualify for it! Good Luck!
