Hello? Genius? Did you fail to notice the massive reconstruction happening on the burrstone ramps ? Or the fact that the light is clearly hanging on a temporary wire? Open your eyes and shut your mouth.

Eventually that light will be a intersection light because you will be able t cross it and go down Lincoln ave. The temp light is to slow losers like stop and go down so they don't run over construction workers. If you knew anything about what the whole arterial project it you would not of opened your mouth and swallowed your foot.

"Who is the city planner genius that decided this would be a good place for a traffic light?"

This was put up by NYSDOT not a city decision. I'm not sure why it is there also?

Because that part of Burstone is state road not city so the state controls what goes there and they put a light there.

Here idiot the intersection is not on the bridge it is just to the east of the bridge were the Burstone Rd ramp is. Did your mother drop you on the noggin as a baby?

You can drive across burrstone from the exit to lincoln avenue. that part doesnt make much sense. But at least the right turning lane is extended.

This still doesn't answer the question: what is the traffic light for? Why stop traffic when there is no intersection? There is a light at the intersection of Burrstone and Sunset just a few hundred feet before the new light and another one a few hundred feet after the light before Utica College. Why do they need another traffic light? As for the new light being temporary because it is hanging by a wire, there are numerous permanent traffic lights in the area that are suspended by wires instead of poles. Try again with your know-it-all insults.
Is it possibly part of the temporary maintenance and protection of traffic plan in effect during construction?

The original poster is an ass bag with not intelligence or intellect. It's going to be an intersection. Anyone who's been paying attention knows this.

That's the way the city does things. Totally illegal and needs 2 lights for 2 lanes. City is dumb and broke. Another fine job by our mayor.

you are a complete moron. It is a state road, and there will be new intersectiosn for the arterial there. Look at the new maps with all the new roads. Educate yourself. I know it's a new concept for you

I looked at this today. It is the location for the new intersection and there will be a permanent light there. The one that is there now though makes sense if you look at the construction operation. The contractor is working on both sides as well as on that very busy road. The light probably has a manual override that allows the contractor to stop traffic and to facilitate moving large, slow moving equipment from one side to the other. Makes perfect sense.

I agree the light postioned where it is will only slow down traffic on that stretch from Burrstone road to the next light Again, another traffic light. WTF. I live off of York so I use this exit a lot. The traffic will be backed up there and people will not be able to access the on ramp to the arterial. It's going to be a cluster. The project will not be completed until 2016, why do we have to have the traffic light up? Makes no sense. Now the one on the opposite side of the stree I think is a good idea. Now clearly there is no merging onto Burrstone Road off the Arterial. There is now a stop light, so either you stop, wait, or go right on red, but the Right of Way will be much more clear now rather than merging; which was really never an issue, but people don't know how to merge into traffic so there were a lot of fender benders.
