Well that is true. But having worked there and having had some 30 years experience on the job I can tell you that the attitude of many in UPD sucks. When the SOP is "thats how we do it here, this is Utica." there is something wrong. The numbers of unsolved cases is quite staggering. The respect of the citizenry is not behind the badge here and that is because of the attitude they see.<quoted text>
I fully understand where you are coming from, but let me tell you this and you are not going to beleive me, but this type and the volume of crime in the City of Utica is no differant than it was 10 or 15 years ago. The reason for this is the freedom of information under Benny was not forth coming. Any shooting, stabbings, robberies and other violent crimes were not released to the news paper or TV news. There could have been 2 fires, 3 shooting, and a bunch of other things going on the standard comment from the stations to the news was " All's Quite ". Ask anyone you know who worked there and they will tell you this
I hope that the new guys have a better understanding of human nature. That they are willing to realize that just because they are in Utica does not exclude them from the rest of the state or it's laws.
Too many of the older guys I worked with who are gone now treated people like crap. It was a shame and made other agencies not want to help.
